Felix Magath leaves Shandong Luneng, following Scolari, AVB out of China

Tianjin Quanjian ended Guangzhou's 44-match unbeaten run at home, but Scolari's side lift their seventh straight league title.
Guangzhou Evergrande have lifted the Chinese Super League title for the seventh straight year.

Felix Magath has become the latest high-profile foreign coach to leave the Chinese Super League (CSL) after Shandong Luneng announced on Friday the veteran German would not be extending his stay with the club.

The announcement of Magath's departure comes a day after Andre Villas-Boas' association with Shanghai SIPG officially came to an end. Former China international Li Xiaopeng has been named as Magath's replacement.

Shandong Luneng kept their hopes of a place in next year's AFC Champions League alive with a 3-1 win over Liaoning Whowin on Friday.

Diego Tardelli, Papiss Cisse and Jin Jingdao found the net for Felix Magath's side before Wang Hao claimed a late consolation for Liaoning.

The result all but ensures Liaoning, who are bottom of the standings, will drop down into the second division.

A draw or better for 14th-placed Tianjin Teda against Beijing Guoan on Sunday would confirm the club's relegation.

Shanghai SIPG's title hopes fade following draw vs. Liaoning Whowin

Andre Villas-Boas looks on during the Chinese Super League between Shanghai SIPG and Changchun Yatai.
Andre Villas-Boas had to watch on as his Shanghai SIPG failed to beat struggling Liaoning Whowin.

Shanghai SIPG assistant coach Xie Hui all but conceded defeat in the fight for the Chinese Super League title on Saturday evening after seeing his side held to a 3-3 draw by bottom-of-the-table Liaoning Whowin.

Coach Andre Villas-Boas was forced to watch from the stands as his side were pegged back on twice by the 16th placed team in the league and SIPG are now six points adrift of league leaders Guangzhou Evergrande with only three games remaining.

CSL: Hulk, Wu Lei each score brace as Shanghai SIPG close gap with leaders

Hulk and Wu Lei scored twice as Shanghai SIPG crushed Shanghai Shenhua 6-1 on Saturday evening to close the gap on Chinese Super League leaders Guangzhou Evergrande to five points.

Carlos Tevez was on the scoresheet for Shenhua, who saw Gus Poyet resign from his position as head coach at the start of the week, but the Argentinian was unable to stop a rampant SIPG from notching up a convincing win.

After a goalless first half, three goals in four minutes just before the hour mark from Hulk, Wu and...

CSL: Hebei CFFC grab crucial victory in tight race for third place

Manuel Pellegrini said he told his players they would be playing for six points.

Hebei CFFC moved into sole possession of third place in the Chinese Super League on Sunday as the battle for places in next season's Asian Champions League intensifies.

Manuel Pellegrini's side beat Guangzhou R&F 2-1, with Aloisio and Zhang Lifeng giving them a two-goal cushion at half time before Yi Teng pulled one back for R&F, who slip to sixth in the table.

The win sees Hebei move to 42 points from 24 games, a point ahead of Tianjin Quanjian in fourth place.
