Two goals by Tom Hopper plus one apiece from Liam O'Neil and Gary McSheffrey gave Scunthorpe a 4-1 win at Brisbane Road against Leyton Orient.

Darius Henderson replied with a penalty for the hosts but at that stage the Iron were already three goals in front.

O'Neil put Mark Robins' men ahead in the 14th minute when the O's failed to clear a corner and the ball was collected on the left by the midfielder, who curled his shot past Gary Woods in the Orient goal.

The O's keeper was beaten again after 28...

A 77th-minute equaliser from centre-back Kyle McFadzean rescued MK Dons from defeat in a 1-1 draw at fast-improving Scunthorpe.

But despite dominating the game for the opening hour, the visitors could not find the win they needed to go top of League One.

In the early stages, they could not find a way past Scunthorpe's debutant goalkeeper Luke Daniels.

The former West Brom shot-stopper excelled with two fine saves from striker Jonson Clarke-Haris and Dons' highly-rated teenage midfield star Dele Alli.

Scunthorpe United lose both goalkeepers to broken arms

Sam Slocombe, shown here in December, broke his arm eight minutes into Saturday's match, his manager said.

Both of Scunthorpe United's goalkeepers left Saturday's defeat to Bristol City with a broken arm.

First-choice custodian Sam Slocombe went off injured after just eight minutes.

Half an hour later, his replacement, Jamie Severn, was stretchered off in agony and taken to hospital after denying Matt Smith in a one-on-one.

Scunthorpe were already down 1-0 at that point, but they were able to push forward in the second half before City who made the game safe with a second goal in the 85th minute.

Luckless Scunthorpe lost two goalkeepers through injury before half-time as their seven-match unbeaten league run was halted in a 2-0 defeat by Bristol City.

First-choice custodian Sam Slocombe went off with an arm injury after just eight minutes and 30 minutes later his replacement, Jamie Severn, was stretchered off in agony and taken to hospital with a suspected fractured arm.

That forced centre-back Andy Boyce to take over the gloves as a makeshift keeper after new-look Scunthorpe had impressed...

Sam Clucas struck twice in extra-time as Chesterfield overcame Scunthorpe 2-0 to set up a mouth-watering all-Derbyshire tie against Championship promotion hopefuls Derby in the FA Cup fourth round.

The Spireites had enjoyed the better of the goalless 90 minutes but could not find a breakthrough until Clucas scored from close range right at the end of the first period of extra-time.

The former Hereford and Mansfield midfielder then ensured a money-spinning trip to the iPro Stadium on January 24 with...
