Julian Draxler completes move to Wolfsburg from Schalke

Wolfsburg have completed the signing of Schalke midfielder Julian Draxler.

Draxler, 21, joins the DFB Pokal holders for a fee believed to be around €36 million, plus add-ons.

The Germany international, who can play on the wing and in a more central role, had been linked with a transfer to Juventus throughout the summer, but has opted to remain in the Bundesliga instead.

Schalke have denied that Julian Draxler is set to join Wolfsburg but suggested they have received bids for the Germany international from both Die Wolfe and Juventus.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reported on Saturday that Juve were close to agreeing a deal in the region of €25 million up front for Draxler after long negotiations that saw Schalke end discussions with the Italian club earlier in the summer.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg wanted Bayer Leverkusen loan - Rudi Voller

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg joined Schalke on loan from Bayern Munich.

Bayer Leverkusen director of sport Rudi Voller has said Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg would have preferred to join his club rather than Schalke, but Bayern Munich vetoed the move.

The Danish midfielder joined Schalke on loan until the end of the season after a move to Leverkusen fell through.

Voller told ZDF television it had been Bayern's decision to send the player to Gelsenkirchen, against his own preference.

Hojbjerg is highly rated but has struggled for first-team chances.

Bayern Munich midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg will join fellow Bundesliga club Schalke on loan for the season.

Hojbjerg, 20, had seemed poised to join Bayer Leverkusen on Friday, with reports suggesting he was on his way there in a similar deal.
