Schalke reject bid for Julian Draxler, shut door on talks with Juventus

Julian Draxler will stay with Schalke after Juventus' bid came up short.

Schalke have rejected a bid from Juventus for Julian Draxler and said they do not intend to entertain any more offers from the Italian champions.

Juventus and Draxler had already agreed on terms, leaving only the two clubs needing to agree on a fee for the Germany international to join compatriot Sami Khedira in Turin.

Juve presented that offer to Schalke on Monday, but the Gelsenkirchen club's sporting director rejected it out of hand.

"I can confirm that we received an offer late this afternoon...

Schalke sporting director Horst Heldt told kicker on Monday that the position remains unchanged. He said: "Until now, we have neither received an enquiry nor a bid."

With the kickoff to the new Bundesliga season just over a fortnight...

Schalke star Julian Draxler agrees terms for Juventus move - agent

Schalke's promising midfielder Julian Draxler could be on his way to Juventus, a move that Dan Thomas contends is a great fit.

Juventus have agreed terms with Schalke midfielder Julian Draxler -- but the two clubs have yet to agree a fee, Goal.com has quoted the Germany international's agent as saying.

Draxler, 21, is a summer target for Juve coach Massimiliano Allegri after the departure of playmaker Andrea Pirlo.

Goal.com reported that he had agreed a deal worth £2.6 million a year, quoting his agent Roger Wittmann as saying: "Now we are at the stage where only Schalke and Juventus have to talk and, after that, we...
