Blaszczykowski said he could not have joined Schalke out of respect for BVB fans.

Jakub Blaszczykowski has said he turned down an offer to move from Borussia Dortmund to rivals Schalke because there are "more things to football than money."

Blaszczykowski joined Serie A club Fiorentina after eight years at BVB.

Julian Draxler completes move to Wolfsburg from Schalke

Wolfsburg have completed the signing of Schalke midfielder Julian Draxler.

Draxler, 21, joins the DFB Pokal holders for a fee believed to be around €36 million, plus add-ons.

The Germany international, who can play on the wing and in a more central role, had been linked with a transfer to Juventus throughout the summer, but has opted to remain in the Bundesliga instead.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg wanted Bayer Leverkusen loan - Rudi Voller

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg joined Schalke on loan from Bayern Munich.

Bayer Leverkusen director of sport Rudi Voller has said Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg would have preferred to join his club rather than Schalke, but Bayern Munich vetoed the move.

The Danish midfielder joined Schalke on loan until the end of the season after a move to Leverkusen fell through.
