Lee Congerton one of five finalists for San Jose Earthquakes GM - sources

The San Jose Earthquakes are getting closer to finding a new general manager.

Multiple sources told ESPN FC that a meeting with Nolan Partners, the firm hired to lead the GM search, is scheduled for Dec. 7, and that five finalists have been selected.

One of those finalists is current San Jose technical director Chris Leitch. Another is former Sunderland sporting director Lee Congerton. Out of the other choices, one source said two are from Latin America.

Goals on either side of halftime helped New York turn the tide against Philadelphia in a crucial 3-2 win over their rivals.

Dax McCarty had two assists before scoring the game-winning goal to help the New York Red Bulls beat the Philadelphia Union 3-2 and move into first place in the Eastern Conference on Saturday night.

The Red Bulls moved above New York City FC on goal difference while also jumping above Toronto FC with two games remaining.

MENLO PARK, Calif. -- San Jose Earthquakes president Dave Kaval said that he "absolutely" expects Dominic Kinnear to be the team's head coach next season.
