Patrik Schick set to stay at Sampdoria as move to Juventus falls through

Juventus' bid to sign striker Patrik Schick from Sampdoria has fallen through, his club announced on Tuesday.

Schick, 21, had been linked for weeks with a move to the Italian champions worth about €30 million after having a medical month, but Sampdoria confirmed that no deal would be forthcoming.

"The clubs Sampdoria and Juventus announce that it was decided, by mutual agreement, not to complete the transfer of the player Patrik Schick," a statement said, without further explanation.

Galatasaray terminated the contract of want-away Netherlands midfielder Wesley Sneijder on Friday.

The Turkish club said the move was "by mutual consent," after the player's agent said last week that talks had begun with Serie A club Sampdoria.

Sources told ESPN FC last month that incoming MLS club Los Angeles FC were also bidding for the 33-year-old's services and retained hope of landing him despite interest from Italy.

Sampdoria will tell Juventus to complete the formalities over the signing of Patrik Schick immediately as concern grows over whether the deal will actually go through.

Schick was flew to Turin during the European Under-21 Championship so that he could undergo a medical after Juventus reached an agreement to buy him this summer.

The transfer has not officially been completed, though, despite both clubs having signed documents which must now only be deposited with the Lega Serie A.

Sevilla have completed the signing of Colombia striker Luis Muriel.

The 26-year-old has passed his medical with the Andalusian club and put pen to paper on a five-year contract, Sevilla announced on their website.

Sevilla have paid a reported €20 million for the former Udinese hitman, who scored 13 goals for Sampdoria last season and has previously played in Spain while on loan at Granada in 2010.

Hellas Verona complete signing of striker Antonio Cassano

Antonio Cassano is ready to return to action with Verona.

Hellas Verona have completed the signing of former Italy international Antonio Cassano, who has not played in over a year.

The 34-year-old forward sat out last season during a contract dispute with Sampdoria but has now sealed his move to the newly promoted Serie A side.
