Celtic's bid to reach the Champions League group stages stuttered with a goalless draw against Rosenborg in the first leg of their third-round qualifier at Parkhead.

The Hoops played without a recognised centre forward due to injury and suspension -- midfielder Tom Rogic was ostensibly the furthest man in attack -- and they missed a focal point in an encounter where the visiting keeper Andre Hansen had little to do.

Indeed, the Norwegian side created the better chances and Celtic keeper Craig Gordon...

Dundalk bowed out of the Champions League at the second qualifying round stage following a 2-1 defeat to Rosenborg after extra-time in Trondheim.

The League of Ireland champions, who had drawn 1-1 at home, made a stunning start when Brian Gartland headed them in front with just 12 minutes gone in the second leg.

Gartland's effort put the visitors 2-1 ahead on aggregate and raised hopes of a potential clash with Celtic at the next stage.

But Rosenborg responded by piling on the pressure and deserved...

Nicklas Bendtner's Rosenborg teammates upgrade 'Lord' nickname

Nicklas Bendtner Rosenborg
Nicklas Bendtner has a new regal title in the Rosenborg dressing room.

Nicklas Bendtner has a new nickname. Apparently "Lord Bendtner" has had to ditch his old moniker from his Arsenal days, at least as far as his new teammates at Norwegian club Rosenborg are concerned.

You can call him the "Emperor" from now on.

Turns out Rosenborg's dressing room has a long-standing habit of handing out bombastic nicknames, and "Lord" was already taken by fellow striker Mushaga Bakenga.

"It's true we have kings, lords and different titles for people in the dressing room," Rosenborg...

Rosenborg's Nicklas Bendtner: 'It's nice being Nicklas Bendtner anywhere'

Nicklas Bendtner joined Rosenborg last month.

Nicklas Bendtner has settled into life at new club Rosenborg by telling a reporter: "It's nice being Nicklas Bendtner anywhere."

Former Arsenal striker Bendtner, 29, has had a successful start with Rosenborg after joining the club from Nottingham Forest in March, having scored two goals in the first two games of the Norwegian Eliteserien league season.

After the Denmark international's goal in Rosenborg's 3-0 win over Sandefjord, a journalist was reported by TV 2 as asking him: "Is it nice being...

Nicklas Bendtner joins Rosenborg from Nottingham Forest

Nicklas Bendtner joined Nottingham Forest in 2016 after a spell in the Bundesliga with Wolfsburg.

Nicklas Bendtner has left Nottingham Forest for Norwegian champions Rosenborg, both clubs have announced.

The 29-year-old Denmark forward has put pen to paper on a three-year deal after joining RBK for an undisclosed fee.

Bendtner played 17 times for Forest, with the last of his two goals coming in the 2-1 victory over Newcastle in December.
