Nicklas Bendtner celebrates birthday with shirtless horseback glamour shot

Having just turned 29, Nicklas Bendtner marked his birthday by sharing an eyebrow-raising photo of himself via social media.

As a little treat for his legion of Instagram followers, the Denmark international and ex-Arsenal striker whipped off his shirt, clambered onto his steed and posed for a seductive glamour shot.

Unmistakable shades of Vladimir Putin on horseback there, though whether or not that was the effect Bendtner, now with Rosenborg, was aiming for is debatable.

Still, it's impossible...

Liverpool scout Rosenborg midfielder Olaus Jair Skarsem - sources

Don Hutchison discusses the three main things Liverpool will need to do in order to beat Jose Mourinho's Manchester United at Anfield.

Liverpool are one of several Premier League clubs tracking Rosenborg midfielder Olaus Jair Skarsem, sources in Norway have told ESPN FC.

Skarsem is currently playing in the Rosenborg 2 squad, but he is regarded as one of the brightest prospects to emerge from Norway in recent years.

The news of Liverpool's interest was first reported in Norway, and Skarsem told Adresseavisen: "It was rather strange and obviously not something I had expected but it's motivational as well and shows that I'm doing...

James Forrest's second-half strike gave Celtic a 1-0 win over Rosenborg and took the Hoops another step closer towards Champions League football.

Following the goalless draw at Parkhead last week, Celtic were again without their only two recognised strikers Moussa Dembele and Leigh Griffiths - with winger Forrest asked to move into the middle.

The Scotland international was thwarted in a first half dominated by Brendan Rodgers' side and, in the 69th minute, Forrest fired a shot high past keeper Andre...

Celtic's bid to reach the Champions League group stages stuttered with a goalless draw against Rosenborg in the first leg of their third-round qualifier at Parkhead.

The Hoops played without a recognised centre forward due to injury and suspension -- midfielder Tom Rogic was ostensibly the furthest man in attack -- and they missed a focal point in an encounter where the visiting keeper Andre Hansen had little to do.

Indeed, the Norwegian side created the better chances and Celtic keeper Craig Gordon...

Dundalk bowed out of the Champions League at the second qualifying round stage following a 2-1 defeat to Rosenborg after extra-time in Trondheim.

The League of Ireland champions, who had drawn 1-1 at home, made a stunning start when Brian Gartland headed them in front with just 12 minutes gone in the second leg.

Gartland's effort put the visitors 2-1 ahead on aggregate and raised hopes of a potential clash with Celtic at the next stage.

But Rosenborg responded by piling on the pressure and deserved...
