Standard Liege bounced back to form as they opened their UEFA Europa League Group G campaign with a 2-0 win over Croatian opponents Rijeka in Belgium.

Late goals from Laurent Ciman and Vinicius Araujo ended the hosts' run of seven games without a win in all competitions which has seen them slip to 12th in the Belgian Pro League.

Rijeka deny Man City's racism claim

Croatian club Rijeka says Manchester City's Seko Fofana only claimed racism after he was sent off for a bad tackle.

Croatian club HNK Rijeka have strenuously denied any of their players racially abused Manchester City's Seko Fofana in a friendly.

City's elite development squad coach Patrick Vieira took his team off the pitch when the 19-year-old French midfielder made the allegations after being sent off just before half-time.

Sources told PA sport the move was supported by City officials and Vieira has received the backing of anti-discrimination network FARE.

Seko Fofana was racially abused during a match in Croatia on Tuesday, Manchester City alleged.

Manchester City cancelled an under-21 friendly in with HNK Rijeka in Croatia on Tuesday after alleged racial abuse aimed at City midfielder Seko Fofana.

A Rijeka player appeared to target Fofana with abuse during the first half, after which City pulled their players from the pitch, according to a statement released on City's website. Rijeka were leading 1-0 when play was abandoned.
