Game Details

Las Palmas will be playing in La Liga next season for the first time in 13 years after beating Real Zaragoza on away goals in the Segunda playoff final -- 12 months after missing out in exactly the same fashion.

Zaragoza were leading 3-1 following the first leg but Las Palmas turned things round on home soil to seal their return to the top flight with a 2-0 victory on Sunday night.

Roque Mesa's 32nd-minute goal put the Canary Islanders ahead and then Sergio Araujo netted what would prove to be the...

Manchester United's Ander Herrera open to Real Zaragoza return

Ander Herrera scored his sixth Premier League goal of the season in Man United's 1-1 draw with Arsenal.
Ander Herrera scored six Premier League goals this season.

Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera has said he hopes to return to Real Zaragoza for a second spell before he retires.

Herrera started his career with Real's B side before spending two seasons in the main Zaragoza side.

He then moved on to Athletic Bilbao before joining United for £28.8 million last summer.

La Liga chief Javier Tebas: Players could go to prison for match-fixing

Barcelona maintained their title push with a 2-0 win over Espanyol, while Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez scored a brace to lift Real Madrid over Celta Vigo.

La Liga president Javier Tebas says players involved in match-fixing could go to jail.

The Spanish courts are currently investigating a number of match-fixing cases, with a judge in Valencia hearing evidence from players involved in a Levante vs. Real Zaragoza game from 2011.

Former Osasuna president Miguel Archanco and director Txuma Peralta have already spent some nights in police custody during an investigation into a series of matches from the final weeks of the 2013-14 campaign.

Ander Herrera, Gabi appearances in match-fixing court case put back

ESPN FC's Spain correspondent Sid Lowe explains the match-fixing probe ongoing in Spain.

Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera and Atletico Madrid captain Gabi have had court appearances in connection with the alleged fixing of a game between Levante and Real Zaragoza in May 2011 put back until close to the end of the season.

The case has so far seen 42 people called to appear in front of a judge -- 36 players and directors and officials including ex-Zaragoza coach Javier Aguirre.

Former Zaragoza midfielders Herrera and Gabi had both been due to appear at a court in Valencia on...

Aguirre situation a difficult one to watch

The Japan Football Association (JFA) confirm on Tuesday that coach Javier Aguirre has been sacked over match-fixing allegations.

I would like to do it. I was tempted, I controlled myself, sat on my hands, held my breath and closed my eyes. I want stick my neck out for him. I'm tempted to do it. I want to but can't. I can but don't want to. It's a tricky situation.

There are two things at stake here. The most important thing is his credibility as a person, as a man, and as a father. But also a powered reputation earned on the field as a soccer player and coach and a situation where he could even be put in jail.

My perception...
