Xavi to reconcile with Van Gaal?

Xavi will be given a chance to redeem himself, but who will partner him in midfield?
If Xavi looks away from Barcelona, could he play for the manager who beat his Spain side 5-1 on Friday?

Who needs Brazil? Away we go with another edition of Transfer Talk with all the latest news, rumours and gossip about player moves in club football.

United in shock Xavi link

You'd think Xavi would be sick of the sight of Louis van Gaal after Netherlands humiliated Spain, but he could yet end up working with the man who broke his heart on Friday night.

That's because the Daily Express reckon the Barcelona midfield maestro could be considering his options at the Nou Camp.

Van Gaal, once he's come down off the ceiling from that 5-1 thumping he handed to Xavi and co., has a World Cup to negotiate before he sets about overhauling Manchester United's creaking midfield.

Xavi's existing deal runs until 2016 and could be a victim of Luis Enrique's rebuilding -- question is, with Marouane Fellaini patrolling the United midfield, do they really need the Spain legend?

LVG doesn't want Bayern star

Elsewhere from Old Trafford, an intriguing line from the Manchester Evening News, who reckon Bastian Schweinsteiger is not on Van Gaal's wish list.

Why not?

Santi coming to town

Madrid, to be precise. Curious one this, as AS claim Santi Cazorla could be returning to Spain for around 17 million pounds. He recently signed a new contract at Arsenal but manager Arsene Wenger is keen to add some more pace into his side.

In the same article, it is suggested that Manchester United could look to dangle Javier Hernandez as bait in their pursuit of Atleti defender Miranda.

Barca love Lovren

Transfer Talk loves a gazumping, and that's the fate that potentially awaits Liverpool because Barcelona are keen on Brendan Rodgers target Dejan Lovren.

Poor old Southampton's reward for a fine season in the Premier League is a smattering of vultures circling their top stars.

Centre-back Lovren is one of them, and, although Rodgers is keen on the 24-year-old, Barcelona are said to be interested, too.

Sport say Barcelona are stepping up their chase, and when you look back at Gerard Pique's performance against Netherlands, you can see why.

Liverpool get the Benz

It's a long shot, but it is being suggested that Karim Benzema could part ways with Real Madrid this summer. The Frenchman's deal expires in 2015, and the two parties are apart in talks over a new contract.

This is where the plot thickens -- Madrid fancy a piece of Luis Suarez (specifically, his two working legs, Transfer Talk guesses), and they would be open to flogging Benzema in order to hatch such a scheme.

Going for A. Song

It's really difficult reporting on rumours regarding Barca's Alex Song because we can't shift this trophy exchange from our minds.

But we'll crack on and say that reports in Spain reckon the Cameroon international is heading to the exit door. It'll cost potential suitors 10 million pounds to land the former Arsenal man, with Chelsea the latest name to be thrown into the mix.

Bony not Toon-bound

Newcastle have had their noses rubbed right in it by Wilfried Bony's agent, who says they could have landed him for 10 million pounds last summer. They didn't, Swansea did and the Ivorian bagged 25 goals in his debut season.

He's become hot property as a result, but Bony's agent says in the Echo that Newcastle can forget about it now because he wants a club with ambition.

Somewhere in north London, Wenger's eyes just widened.

Koeman's a Saint

Manager talk now, and Southampton fans grumpy with news about Lovren's potential exit might be cheered by the Daily Mirror's claim that they might have finally found Mauricio Pochettino's successor.

His name? Ronald Koeman, who is reported to have agreed a deal to move to the South Coast.
