Xabi Prieto's second-half goal ensured Real Sociedad returned to winning ways in the Primera Division on Saturday evening.

Prieto headed home the game's only goal at the Anoeta to see off Basque neighbours Eibar 1-0 and earn David Moyes' side a welcome three points after last weekend's late home loss at the hands of Rayo Vallecano.

The result lifted Sociedad to 11th place, and left Eibar eight.

Sociedad started brightly and mustered the better of the early chances.

Former Manchester United striker Manucho struck late for Rayo Vallecano to inflict a first home defeat on Real Sociedad manager David Moyes.

Paco Jemez's side had been the second-best team for large periods of the game but the Angola international headed in a corner in the 81st minute to give the Madrid side a second win in three matches.

But his actions have proven costly, with Moyes banned one match for his...

David Moyes impresses Real Sociedad despite average results so far

David Moyes was appointed Real Sociedad manager on Nov. 10, six months after being sacked by Manchester United.

David Moyes turned to the official and did the universal sign for "are you blind, pal?" making a pair of glasses with his hands, lifting them to his face and peering through in disbelief. The referee sent him off. His eyes widened and he turned, jogged across the running track, vaulted over the barrier, and nimbly climbed into the stands where the supporters sat, taking up an empty seat a few rows up from the front. He was still wearing a look that said "that guy, eh," the hint of a smile creeping...

David Moyes, banished to the stands, enjoys a bag of crisps with fans

With Real Sociedad trailing 4-2 on aggregate in their Copa del Rey second leg with Villarreal and time ticking away, Alfred Finnbogason was flagged for offside in a very tight decision. Manager David Moyes, visibly irritated by the call, gestured to the linesman that he should seek out a new pair of spectacles.

The Scot was promptly sent to the stands. Hopping the rails of the Anoeta and climbing into the stands, Moyes was quickly offered a sit among the fans.
