Earthquakes stay hot to beat D.C. while Didier Drogba debuts in Impact's loss

DC United gives up three points at home after a pair of goals by the San Jose Earthquakes.

Chris Wondolowski scored his 12th goal of the season four minutes into the game and the San Jose Earthquakes beat Eastern Conference-leading D.C. United 2-0 on Saturday.

Coming off a 5-0 win at Sporting Kansas City, the Earthquakes grabbed the lead when Fatai Alashe punched a pass to the right side of the goal box and Wondolowski was able to turn on the ball and right-foot a shot into the bottom of the far corner.

Juan Manuel 'Burrito' Martinez joins Real Salt Lake as designated player

Sporting Kansas City advanced to the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Final via a comprehensive 3-1 win over Real Salt Lake in Kansas.

Real Salt Lake completed the signing of Argentine forward Juan Manuel Martinez on Thursday.

The 29-year-old Martinez, known as "Burrito," signed as designated player for RSL, which used targeted allocation money to buy down the contract of Kyle Beckerman.

Martinez spent the past two seasons with Argentine giants Boca Juniors but asked for his contract to be terminated after the club signed Carlos Tevez.

Philadelphia Union, Sporting Kansas City advance to U.S. Open Cup final

Sébastien Le Toux added to his record US Open Cup goal tally as he helped Philadelphia to a 1-0 victory over Chicago and put the Union back in the title game.

The Philadelphia Union and Sporting Kansas City advanced to the U.S. Open Cup final after winning their respective semis on Wednesday.

Philadelphia, who won a draw to determine home-away priority before the semifinals were played, will serve as hosts for the Sept. 30 event.
