Borussia Monchengladbach face DFB action over RB Leipzig banner

The German FA (DFB) has opened proceedings against Borussia Monchengladbach over a banner displayed during the 2-1 home defeat to RB Leipzig on Sunday.

Gladbach supporters became the latest to protest against Leipzig on Sunday, with banners contrasting their club's tradition with what they claimed was the visitors' lack of one.

A fortnight after violence had broken out prior to Dortmund's match against Leipzig, one banner read: "We damn every thrown stone... which did not hit you customers!"

Borussia Dortmund chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke says he has received death threats from RB Leipzig supporters.

Dortmund and Leipzig played out a troubled Bundesliga match earlier this month with fans clashing before kickoff and BVB supporters holding up offensive banners at the game.

Dortmund, who won the clash 1-0, were punished for their involvement with a €100,000 fine and had to close their south stand for Saturday's 3-0 victory over Wolfsburg.

RB Leipzig have enjoyed a superb debut season in the Bundesliga.

Former Germany captain Michael Ballack has said he believes RB Leipzig will win the Bundesliga sooner or later.
