RB Leipzig chief slams Dynamo Dresden fans over cow head incident

Dynamo Dresden fans cheer ahead of the DFB Pokal victory at home to RB Leipzig.

RB Leipzig have slammed Dynamo Dresden fans as "tasteless" after a severed cow's head was thrown from the stands during Saturday's DFB Pokal clash.

The cities of Dresden and Leipzig are separated by only 100 kilometres and, when the sides met in the first round of the cup, Dresden fans snuck the head into the Stadion Dresden and threw it toward the pitch from the stands.

Supporters of eight-time East German champions Dynamo appeared to be showing their distaste for their big-spending local...

Leipzig become first top-flight Bundesliga side to lose in DFB Pokal

The ESPN FC panel reflect on Borussia Dortmund's sporting director's comments regarding Dortmund's league title aspirations.
Yussuf Poulsen and Leipzig crashed out of the DFB Pokal in the first round.

Leipzig became the first Bundesliga side to fall by the wayside in the DFB Pokal as the rest of the first-round ties went to form on Saturday.

The top-flight newcomers were involved in one of three games which went to a penalty shoot-out, but a miss from Dominik Kaiser cost Ralph Hasenhuttl a winning start to life in charge of the ambitious Bundesliga newcomers against Dynamo Dresden in the battle of two teams from the former East Germany.

Second-division Nurnberg and Arminia Bielefeld won their...

Naby Keita left RB Salzburg this summer to join RB Leipzig.

Guinea midfielder Naby Keita says he turned down an approach from Arsenal despite a personal phone call from Arsene Wenger before joining RB Leipzig instead.

Keita, a highly rated 21-year-old who moved to the Bundesliga from Austrian club RB Salzburg this summer, told Die Welt that Manchester City and Liverpool were also interested in him but that Wenger was the only manager he had talked to.

"I only had contact with Arsene Wenger, who spoke French to me," Keita said.

In the end he said that Leipzig...

New York Red Bulls add DP Omer Damari on loan from Leipzig

MLSsoccer.com's Susannah Collins explains why everyone should pay attention to the CONCACAF Champions League this year.
Bradley Wright-Phillips' stoppage-time equaliser earned New York Red Bulls an important point away from home.

The New York Red Bulls added forward Omer Damari as a designated player on loan from Leipzig of the German Bundesliga, the club confirmed on Thursday.

The move is pending the approval of Damari's work visa.

Damari, a native of Israel, joined Leipzig in January of 2014 and finished out that season before going on loan to Salzburg in the Austrian Bundesliga, where he scored four goals and four assists in 16 appearances in 2015-16.

"We follow a lot of the Red Bull-associated clubs pretty closely, so...

Salzburg's Andreas Ulmer wears wrong team's shirt in UCL match

Andreas Ulmer, shown in a game from last season, wore the wrong team's shirt on Tuesday.

Salzburg defender Andreas Ulmer accidentally wore a Leipzig shirt during the second half of Tuesday's Champions League qualification match against FK Liepaja.

Soft drink giants Red Bull own both Austrian side Salzburg and new German Bundesliga top-flight club Leipzig.

Neither team are allowed to display any brands in their club badge in European games as well as matches in the German professional tiers because of restrictions by UEFA and the German Football League .

This led to confusion in Salzburg,...
