Marcelino has called for a public apology from Rayo Vallecano's president.

Former Villarreal manager Marcelino has demanded a public apology from Rayo Vallecano president Raul Martin Presa for comparing him to the Lufthansa pilot that deliberately crashed a plane in the French Alps that killed 150 people last year.

Martin Presa blamed Marcelino for his team's relegation to the second division after the Villarreal coach fielded a weakened side in a 2-0 defeat at relegation-threatened Sporting Gijon in La Liga.

Southampton keeper Paulo Gazzaniga joins Rayo Vallecano on loan

Paulo Gazzaniga will spend the upcoming season in the Spanish Segunda Division.

Southampton goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga has joined Rayo Vallecano on a season-long loan.

The 24-year-old joined Saints from Gillingham in 2012 and has made 23 appearances for the club.

Southampton's executive director of football Les Reed told the club's official site: "Paulo is a very popular player at the club and has developed steadily since his move from Gillingham, never letting us down when he has been called upon.

Real Madrid head coach Zinedine Zidane believes anything can happen as his side vies for the Liga title.

Rayo Vallecano have strongly defended themselves against match-fixing allegations at an extraordinary prematch news conference on Friday featuring their whole squad.
