Lille ordered to pay €300k to Genk over transfer of Divock Origi

Divock Origi impressed during the 2014 World Cup.

Lille have been ordered to pay Genk €300,000 for the transfer of Divock Origi in 2010.

Origi, 20, is now with Liverpool after a £10 million move in July 2014 that saw him loaned back to Lille, but began his footballing education in his homeland with Genk, leaving them at the age of 15 before signing youth terms with the Ligue 1 side.

Genk appealed to FIFA's dispute resolution chamber seeking a "training compensation" fee but were denied as they had not offered a contract to the Belgium...

Manchester United sign Belgian teen Indy Boonen on three-year deal

Manchester United have signed Belgian youngster Indy Boonen on a three-year deal according to Belgian paper HLN.

Boonen, 16, is a left-footed attacking midfielder who often operates in the No. 10 role and has been training at Carrington for a few weeks after already being invited for sessions at Manchester City, Arsenal, Feyenoord and Wolfsburg.

Already a youth international, and previously on the books of FC Genk, Boonen has been tipped for a bright future and has put pen to paper on his first senior...

McLeish named boss of Genk

Alex McLeish lasted only 40 days at Nottingham Forest
McLeish in his last role at Nottingham Forest.

Alex McLeish has been appointed coach of Belgian club Genk on a two-year contract.

The 55-year-old Scot has not worked in football management since leaving Nottingham Forest by mutual consent in February 2013.

"KRC Genk is proud to present its new trainer -- Alex McLeish,'' the Belgian club posted on Facebook. "He signed a contract for two seasons. Welcome, Mr Alex McLeish.''

Genk sack Emilio Ferrera 1 match in

GENK, Belgium -- Racing Genk has sacked coach Emilio Ferrera after the opening game of the Belgian league.

Ferrera came in to the new season with a two-year contract extension, but did not last beyond an opening 3-1 away loss to KV Mechelen.

After bringing in Ferrera to turn around a dismal season last year, it had high hopes of challenging for the title this season.

But the club said that "while everyone was hoping for a fresh start, the first game against KV Mechelen was surprisingly bad." ...
