McLeish named boss of Genk

Alex McLeish lasted only 40 days at Nottingham Forest
McLeish in his last role at Nottingham Forest.

Alex McLeish has been appointed coach of Belgian club Genk on a two-year contract.

The 55-year-old Scot has not worked in football management since leaving Nottingham Forest by mutual consent in February 2013.

"KRC Genk is proud to present its new trainer -- Alex McLeish,'' the Belgian club posted on Facebook. "He signed a contract for two seasons. Welcome, Mr Alex McLeish.''

Genk sack Emilio Ferrera 1 match in

GENK, Belgium -- Racing Genk has sacked coach Emilio Ferrera after the opening game of the Belgian league.

Ferrera came in to the new season with a two-year contract extension, but did not last beyond an opening 3-1 away loss to KV Mechelen.

After bringing in Ferrera to turn around a dismal season last year, it had high hopes of challenging for the title this season.

But the club said that "while everyone was hoping for a fresh start, the first game against KV Mechelen was surprisingly bad." ...

Genk slip to another defeat

Genk crashed to a fifth successive defeat after losing at home 2-1 to Gent in the Belgian Pro League on Sunday.
