Queen of the South secured their play-off place with a 2-1 victory at home to Dumbarton.

Second-half goals by Kevin Holt and Stephen McKenna put the promotion hopefuls in control and Donald McCallum's strike proved only a consolation for Dumbarton.

Queen of the South threatened in the 14th minute when Danny Rogers produced a superb save to keep out a Derek Lyle header but it was a first half of very few chances.

The deadlock was broken in the 55th minute when a cross from the right was flicked on and...

Queen of the South had to settle for a point against Alloa as it finished 2-2 at Recreation Park.

Victory for James Fowler's side would have seen them seal a play-off spot but they were denied by Liam Buchanan's equalising goal for the struggling hosts.

Chris Higgins and Gavin Reilly went close for the visitors but it was Alloa who took the lead after 40 minutes when Ben Gordon headed home Iain Flannigan's corner.

Two goals at the beginning of the second half turned the game on its head as Derek Lyle...

Queen of the South strengthened their grip on a Scottish Championship play-off place with a 1-0 victory against top-four rivals Falkirk at Palmerston Park.

Derek Lyle scored the only goal of the game midway through the first half to give the Doonhamers a third straight league win and moved James Fowler's men four points ahead of their opponents, with a game in hand.

Blair Alston and John Baird threatened for Falkirk early on but Lyle netted from Michael Paton's pass after 22 minutes.

Stuart McCall's unbeaten start to his Rangers reign was brought to a crashing halt as Queen of the South claimed a stunning 3-0 win at Palmerston.

Gers were looking to confirm their place in the promotion play-offs after the ex-Motherwell boss's first month in charge saw him pick up two draws and three successive victories.

But that resurgence ended when Derek Lyle and Gavin Reilly scored either side of Lewis Kidd's strike that went in off stand-in Ibrox skipper Lee Wallace just 16 seconds after the...

Queen of the South secured their first away win since January 31 thanks to defender Mark Durnan's solitary strike in a 1-0 success at Hibernian.

Durnan finished off a sweeping move by the visitors from close range early in the second half and Hibernian could not find a way back.

Queen of the South striker Gavin Reilly went close to giving the visitors the lead inside the opening minute and visiting defender Kevin Holt was also wayward with two efforts as his side started the brighter.
