Sergio Egea has left Pumas after a poor start to the season.

Liga MX club Pumas have parted ways with temporary head coach Sergio Egea and replaced him with interim boss David Patino in the university club's second coaching change of the 2017 Apertura.

Argentine Egea was the club's sporting vice president and only took over managerial duties on Aug. 23, following head coach Francisco "Paco" Palencia's departure. The club hasn't yet announced whether Egea will still be the sporting vice president.

Paco Palencia led Pumas to the 2016 Apetura semis in his debut season.

Paco Palencia is out as manager of Liga MX club Pumas following a disappointing start to the 2017 Apertura.

The former Mexico international exits following Tuesday's 2-1 home loss to Morelia, leaving the Mexico City club in 14th place in the Liga MX league table.

Pumas announced in a brief statement that Sergio Egea would take over in a temporary capacity, with former coach Guillermo Vazquez and Victor Manuel Vucetich possible candidates for the full-time job.

Marcelo Diaz was a key player in Chile's back-to-back Copa America successes.

Chile international Marcelo Diaz has signed for Liga MX club Pumas UNAM, after leaving La Liga's Celta Vigo by mutual agreement.

Pumas announced the signing on social media Thursday afternoon, with 30-year-old Diaz bidding farewell to Celta Vigo earlier in the day.

The transfer is a major capture for the Mexico City university side, with holding midfielder Diaz strongly linked to fellow Liga MX club Tigres.

A friendly between former players of two Mexican clubs turned violent during half-time when dozens of fans invaded the pitch and brawled.
