Pumas need a win, Caixinha revisits Santos, America vs. Tijuana: W2W4

Pumas' inconsistency is holding them back, but victory vs. Chivas would be a tonic.

ESPN FC's Liga MX writers pick out what you need to watch for in another exciting weekend of action.

Pumas must make a statement vs. Chivas

Sunday's game in Estadio Olimpico Universitario offers Pumas an opportunity to reassert their playoff hopes, and perhaps their title credentials, following a 4-1 loss to Tijuana last weekend and a 2-1 defeat to Veracruz the weekend before.

Pumas have certainly improved on last season's last-place finish in Liga MX, but the jury remains out on just where...

Pumas UNAM's stunning turnaround led by Castillo, Alustiza, Arribas

Alejandro Arribas cemented his superb start to the season with a goal against Tigres earlier this month.
Alejandro Arribas cemented his superb start to the season with a goal against Tigres earlier this month.

Countless Liga MX fans are puzzled about an astonishing turnaround that is currently dominating the headlines. With 11 league matches left on their schedule, Pumas have already surpassed the 13-point tally they collected last season. Thanks to a current mark of 14 points after six weeks of the Clausura, the Mexico City club is looking nothing like the laughingstock it was as recently as late-2017.

Less than three months ago, there was no team stuck in a more miserable run of form than Pumas. Their...

Pumas grab top place, America fall to No. 2, Chivas continue sinking

Matias Alustiza and Pumas won again this weekend as their superb season continues.

With a week ahead full of midweek and weekend games ahead, it will be fascinating to see if Pumas continue what has been an impressive start to the Clausura.

Here are the Power Rankings for Week 6:

Leader Pumas host champion Tigres; Queretaro, Veracruz battle at bottom

In the first episode of 'Two on Tri', ESPN's Sebastian Salazar and Herculez Gomez talk about their fondest memories of the national team, recap World Cup heartbreaks and much more.

Leaders face first real test

Defending champion Tigres and current league leader Pumas will face off Sunday at the Estadio Olímpico. After four weeks, unbeaten Pumas has bounced back from a horrid Apertura 2017 campaign that featured three managers, 10 losses and a whole lot of finger pointing. The signing of Argentine playmaker Matias Alustiza to play up front with Chilean striker Nicolas Castillo has proven to be a stroke of genius.

Furthermore, the mystique surrounding Pumas' home ground...

Erick 'Cubo' Torres joins Liga MX's Pumas from Houston Dynamo

The seven best-ever goals by Mexican players in MLS, including two gems by Erick 'Cubo' Torres.

Mexico international Erick "Cubo" Torres has completed a move from Houston Dynamo to Liga MX side Pumas, the Mexican club announced on Wednesday night.

The 25-year-old striker had been heavily linked with Veracruz earlier in the current January transfer window, but that deal fell through.

"I'm content, happy to return to Mexican football and with a club as important as Pumas. I'm coming to work, to train hard," Torres told Televisa Deportes at half-time of Pumas' 3-0 victory over Juarez in the Copa...
