San Antonio FC midfielder Manolo Sanchez, a former player for the New York Red Bulls II, has been added to the Puerto Rico national team for an international exhibition against the United States this Sunday at Juan Ramon Loubriel stadium in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. 

Sanchez, who represented the island last year for a friendly against New York City FC, will also be with the team for two Caribbean Cup qualifying games against Grenada and Antigua-Barbuda in early June. The match will be played at...

Julian Green is among the 22 players called up to a Miami training camp for the United States.

United States manager Jurgen Klinsmann named his 22-man squad for a training camp this week in Miami ahead of the Copa America Centenario next month.

The team will be without striker Jozy Altidore due to a hamstring injury as well as a half-dozen foreign-based players for Sunday's friendly at Puerto Rico because of club commitments.

Altidore, who hasn't scored for Toronto FC in Major League Soccer this season, was hurt on Saturday while taking a penalty kick against Vancouver that was saved.

United States to face Puerto Rico for first time in May friendly

The United States national team will open its three-game, pre-Copa America Centenario slate of tuneup matches with its first-ever match in Puerto Rico, U.S. Soccer announced on Thursday.

The friendly will take place on May 22 at Juan Ramon Loubriel Stadium in Bayamon.

The Americans also play Ecuador on May 25 in Frisco, Texas (8 p.m. ET, ESPN2), and Bolivia on May 28 in Kansas City, Kansas, before opening the Copa -- the South American championship which for the first time will be hosted by the U.S....

Carmelo Anthony's Puerto Rico FC to make NASL debut on July 2

Puerto Rico FC, the fledgling club owned by New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony, will make their North American Soccer League 2016 debut on July 2 when they host Indy Eleven at Bayamon's Juan Ramon Loubriel Stadium.

The NASL set its 2016 schedule last week using last year's format but with three new teams (Miami FC, Rayo Oklahoma City and Puerto Rico FC) set to make their debuts in 2016. Meanwhile, the San Antonio Scorpions have left the league while the Atlanta Silverbacks have halted operations.
