Puebla pledges free beer if club loses to Juarez

Puebla fans can look forward to free beer if the club loses on Thursday.

PUEBLA -- Puebla fans who attend the club's Liga MX match against Juarez on Thursday will receive free beer if the home side fails to win, the club has announced.

The free beer would be distributed at the club's next home game on Matchday 9 (Sept. 13) against Atletico de San Luis.

"If we don't win on Thursday, you get a free beer in the match against @AtletideSanLuis!," read a tweet from Puebla's official Twitter account.

The Camoteros have not won in their past five matches and are second-to-bottom...

Javier Torrente was sacked by Morelia on Sunday.

Javier Torrente became the second Liga MX manager fired this weekend after being dismissed by Morelia on Sunday, a day after Jose Luis "Chelis" Sanchez was relieved of his duties at Puebla.

Morelia lost 1-0 on Saturday evening to Club America and Torrente stated afterwards that his future was out of his hands, but did point out that his team had faced a start that included games against reigning Liga MX champion Tigres, CONCACAF Champions League holder Monterrey, as well as giant Club America.

Pumas beats Veracruz, Toluca tops Puebla to make Apertura semifinals

Regular-season league leader Pumas defeated Veracruz 1-0 on Sunday and advanced to the Liga MX Apertura 2015 semifinals.

Fidel Martinez netted the only goal of the match in the ninth minute, tapping in Ismael Sosa's well-placed cross from close range.

Pumas lost the quarterfinal first leg 1-0 last Thursday but will advance because they finished higher in the regular season with Veracruz qualifying in eighth position.

U.S. international Michael Orozco joins Club Tijuana from from Puebla FC

Michael Orozco is a native of Orange, Calif.

United States international defender Michael Orozco has joined Club Tijuana, the Liga MX club announced on Friday. The 29-year-old makes the move from Puebla FC.

Orozco, who began his professional career with San Luis and has also played in MLS for Philadelphia, will be reunited at the Xolos with Ruben Omar Romano, who was his manager last season at Puebla.
