Houston Dynamo rout LA Galaxy as Toronto FC rallies from three down

First half goals from Will Bruin and Brad Davis paved the way for the Houston Dynamo in their 3-0 win over the LA Galaxy.

Brad Davis had a goal and an assist in the first half, helping the Houston Dynamo beat the LA Galaxy 3-0 on Saturday night.

The Dynamo took control in the ninth minute when Will Bruin settled Davis' diagonal cross and smashed home a left-footer. Davis then added a long-range strike from behind the top of the circle in the 27th minute.

Leonel Miranda capped the scoring in the 88th minute, juking two Galaxy defenders and finishing with a chip shot.

Portland Timbers sign Lanus forward Lucas Melano

The Philadelphia Union triumphed at PPL Park with a narrow 3-0 win over the Portland Timbers, courtesy of goals from Andrew Wenger and two from Vincent Nogueira.

The Portland Timbers have signed Argentine forward Lucas Melano from Argentine first-division side Lanus on Friday .

Melano joins the club as a designated player. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the Timbers did say that targeted allocation money was used to lower the budget charge of Fanendo Adi, which freed up the DP slot.

Two goals from Bradley Wright-Phillips paved the way for the New York Red Bulls in their comfortable 4-1 win over the New England Revolution.

Bradley Wright-Phillips had two goals and an assist in the first 12 minutes, and the New York Red Bulls beat the sliding New England Revolution 4-1 on Saturday night.

Wright-Phillips headed home Lloyd Sam's cross in the fourth minute, and then helped set up Sam's low hard finish into the left corner five minutes later. Wright-Phillips capped the flurry with a shot that looked much like Sam's goal, giving the Red Bulls a 3-0 lead.

It was Wright-Phillips' eighth multigoal game of his career.
