Rangers boss Mark Warburton marked his competitive bow at Ibrox with a 3-0 victory over Peterhead in the first round of the Scottish League Cup.

David Templeton, Kenny Miller and James Tavernier all struck to ensure the former Brentford boss enjoyed a winning introduction.

The Light Blues now go into the hat for Monday's second-round draw, and Warburton and his number two Davie Weir will be pleased with the way their new-look team are shaping up ahead of next Friday's Ladbrokes Championship opener...

Jordon Brown netted a second-half double as Peterhead beat Brechin 3-0 at Glebe Park to progress to the second round of the Petrofac Training Cup.

The former Aberdeen midfielder pounced right-footed from 12 yards in the 57th minute and added his second 10 minutes later with a neat close-range finish into the bottom corner.

Rory McAllister claimed a third in the 75th minute, finding the top corner from 12 yards to ensure no winning start for new Brechin player-boss Darren Dods.

Morton were crowned Scottish League One champions as they recorded a 3-1 come-from-behind victory over 10-man Peterhead.

The Ton fell behind but Scott Ross' dismissal proved crucial as the hosts rallied, with Michael Miller and Mark Russell both scoring in four first-half minutes and Declan McManus adding to the tally late on.

The home side's promotion party did not look like materialising when Gary McDonald headed in Steven Noble's 17th-minute corner at the back post.

However, just four minutes later,...

Liam Lindsay's late header earned Airdrie a 1-0 win at Peterhead in an end-of-season dead rubber.

The visitors were the better side from the start and Ross Docherty brought a parry save from Graeme Smith midway through the first half before testing him again shortly afterwards.

The pressure continued as Bob McHugh hit the post with a fierce drive seven minutes before the break.

McHugh then skied a chance from six yards while Smith was forced into another save as it looked as if Airdrie would have to...

Forfar lost top spot in Scottish League One after slipping to a 1-0 defeat at Peterhead.

James Redman's first-half strike proved to be the only goal and victories for Stranraer and Morton saw the visitors drop to third in the table.

The decisive moment came in the 37th minute when Redman headed in from Steven Noble's pass for his first goal since the 3-2 victory against the same opponents on March 10.

Redman had gone close in the 15th minute when his well-struck shot flew over the crossbar while Jordon...
