Former Getafe winger Diego Castro joins Perth Glory for new season

Diego Castro played a decade in the top two divisions of his native Spain and faced up to Real Madrid.

Perth Glory have become the latest A-League club to sign a Spanish player with the arrival of former La Liga winger Diego Castro Gimenez as their marquee player for the 2015-16 season.

The 33-year-old is a veteran of a decade in the top two divisions of Spanish football with Sporting Gijon, Getafe and Malaga.

Castro is known for his goal-scoring prowess, striking 39 times in 170 games at Gijon and on 18 occasions in 129 matches for Getafe, his most recent club.

Jamie Harnwell cuts ties with Perth Glory over W-League fallout

Former Perth Glory star Jamie Harnwell guided the club to a surprise W-League Premiers Plate win last season.

Perth Glory legend Jamie Harnwell has described being asked to re-apply for his job as W-League coach as "a kick in the guts", prompting the former player to cut his ties with the Western Australian club.

Glory last week took over control of the their women's side, who had been previously run by Football West, the state's governing body. Harnwell was coach for four years and took the side to last season's W-League Grand Final after winning the Premiers' Plate.

Perth Glory end with win over Western Sydney, Melbourne City thrashed

Perth Glory held on for a 2-1 victory away to Western Sydney Wanderers despite Denis Kramar's red card as their campaign came to a close.

The result saw Glory draw level on points with league leaders Melbourne Victory at the top of the table, but they will not be able to take part in this season's A-League finals as a result of a Football Federation Australia punishment for breaching the salary cap.
