Raised eyebrows at two successive defeats for Hamilton is testament to how well the Lanarkshire club have performed this season, according to player/manager Alex Neil.

After losing at home to Inverness on the opening day of the Scottish Premiership campaign after coming up from the Championship via the play-off, Accies went on an 11-game unbeaten run which took them top of the table and into the Scottish League Cup quarter-finals.

The Lanarkshire side remain top despite their 2-0 defeat by Dundee at...

Hat-trick hero John Guidetti claimed Rangers or any other of Celtic's Scottish League Cup semi-final opponents will be ``going down'' if they are drawn against the Parkhead men.

The 22-year-old Swede, on loan from Manchester City, took his tally to eight in eight games for the Hoops with two wonderful free-kicks and a penalty in the 6-0 quarter-final thrashing of Partick Thistle at Celtic Park.

Substitute Leigh Griffiths grabbed a brace and left-back Emilio Izaguirre also notched as Ronny Deila's side...

Firhill failed to provide the usual customary thrills as Partick Thistle and St Johnstone fought out a 0-0 draw in wild conditions in Maryhill.

The point apiece left both sides rooted in the bottom six of the Scottish Premiership, but overall neither manager should be too displeased with his return from what was an evenly matched contest.

With both sides coming into this encounter in poor form and with the rain lashing down, it was no surprise that the players began the game in tentative fashion.

A late penalty from Nadir Ciftci helped Dundee United overcome 10-man Partick Thistle 1-0 at Tannadice to close the gap on Scottish Premiership leaders Hamilton.

Ciftci stuck from the penalty spot in the 83rd minute after he was brought down by Thistle captain Daniel Seaborne, who was sent off for his last-man foul.

Partick were the better team in the second half but Ciftci's spot-kick means Jackie McNamara's side now sit just one point behind Hamilton, despite not being at their best in this match.

Partick Thistle full-back Stephen O'Donnell scored one and set up another as a 3-1 victory over Motherwell sent the visitors into second-bottom spot in the Scottish Premiership.

The Jags were largely comfortable after Stuart Bannigan gave them a 16th-minute lead, although the game might have been different had Henrik Ojamaa's early header been inches lower rather than hitting the underside of the bar.

O'Donnell fed Kris Doolan for the second after the break and took advantage of a completely absent...
