Thiago Motta signs one-year PSG contract extension

ESPN FC's Craig Burley feels Paris Saint-Germain are the strongest club by far in Ligue 1 ahead of their clash with AS Monaco.
AS Monaco manager Leonardo Jardim and defender Andrea Raggi look ahead to the challenge they face this weekend as they go up against the reigning champions of Ligue 1 at home.
Thiago Motta joined the club in January of 2012.

Thiago Motta has ended speculation about his future by signing a one-year contract extension with Paris St. Germain.

The Italy international had been linked with a move away from the French champions, with Arsenal, Liverpool and his former clubs Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan reported to be among those clubs interested in acquiring his services.

However, the defensive midfielder, who turned 33 on Friday, put pen to paper on a deal with PSG that ties him to the Parc des Princes until June 30, 2017.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic joy at 'dream' PSG Champions League draw vs. Malmo

Another off season, another transfer window of Zlatan Ibrahimovic being linked to Europe's top clubs
Former French international Frank LeBouef discusses the expectations for Paris Saint-Germain ahead of the 2015/16 Ligue 1 season.
The ESPN FC panel debate whether or not Angel Di Maria will make PSG serious Champions League contenders this season and also speak about Zlatan Ibrahimovic's future in Ligue 1.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has described Paris Saint-Germain's Champions League group stage draw with his hometown club Malmo as "the best that could happen."

Ibrahimovic, 33, started his professional career in 1999 when he made his senior debut with Malmo, the city in which he grew up, after coming through the club's youth ranks.

He has since played in the Netherlands, Spain and Italy before moving to PSG in 2012, but has kept close ties with the city where he grew up.

ESPN FC's Alejandro Moreno and Alexis Nunes look ahead to the Champions League campaigns for Barcelona, Real Madrid, Juventus and Bayern Munich.

Former Real Madrid winger Angel Di Maria is set for a friendly welcome when he returns to the Bernabeu with Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.

Di Maria's current and former sides were drawn together at Thursday's ceremony in Monaco, into a Group A which also includes Shakhtar Donetsk and Malmo.

Man City get tricky Champions League group vs. Juventus; relief for United

Last year no Premier League side made it past the Champions League round of 16. How will they fare this year?
ESPN FC's Alejandro Moreno and Alexis Nunes go group-by-group to break down the 2015 UEFA Champions League draw.

Manchester City have been handed a tough Champions League group stage draw against Juventus, Sevilla and Borussia Monchengladbach.

City, who also dealt with tough draws in the past four seasons of the Champions League, were selected in Group D with last season's finalists and the Europa League champions.

Holders Barcelona, meanwhile, are in Group E alongside Roma, who finished second in Serie A last season, Bayer Leverkusen and BATE Borisov.

Angel Di Maria poised to make Paris Saint-Germain debut at Monaco

Gabriele Marcotti doubts that the rumours of Edison Cavani moving from PSG to Arsenal holds much truth considering the transfer window is nearing a close.
PSG manager Laurent Blanc says his side still need to settle into the Ligue 1 season physically, despite claiming their third consecutive victory with a 1-0 win at Montpellier.
PSG head coach Laurent Blanc says new signing Angel Di Maria has a chance to make his debut in their Ligue 1 clash against Montpellier.

Angel Di Maria is set to make his Paris Saint-Germain debut in Sunday's Ligue 1 clash at Monaco.

Di Maria, 27, has been working his way back to full fitness since suffering a thigh injury during the Copa America in June.

That setback means he has yet to feature for the Ligue 1 champions -- also set to welcome back Zlatan Ibrahimovic from injury -- since joining from Manchester United earlier this month.
