Chapecoense survivors lift Copa trophy before draw in first game since crash

Chapecoense returned to action with a friendly against Palmeiras, their first match since November's plane crash.

The three surviving players of the air crash two months ago that killed 19 members of Brazil's Chapecoense lifted the Copa Sudamericana trophy on Saturday in honour of their dead teammates.

The moving moment came just before the rebuilt side played its first match since the Nov. 28 tragedy, drawing 2-2 with defending Brazilian champions Palmeiras in a charity game.

Felipe Melo inks three-year deal with Brasileirao champions Palmeiras

Felipe Melo made 33 appearances during his time at Inter Milan, scoring one goal.

Brazil international Felipe Melo has left Inter Milan to join Brasileirao champions Palmeiras on a three-year deal.

Melo, 33, joined Inter in 2015, but after only making five Serie A appearances this season decided to head back to his homeland in the search of more playing time.

Palmeiras are waiting for Inter Milan to give them the go-ahead to sign Felipe Melo, the midfielder's agent has said.

Melo, 33, has been deemed surplus to requirements at Inter and may be released from his contract to enable him to join Palmeiras.

The Brazilian club have already agreed terms with the player and are now waiting for Inter to conclude the transfer.
