Orlando Pirates top of the table, Kaizer Chiefs win again

Orlando Pirates moved to the top of the Absa Premiership table and Kaizer Chiefs kept up their recent run of wins as South Africa's Soweto giants flexed their muscles in domestic action on Saturday.

Pirates defeated Baroka FC 2-1, while Chiefs claimed a more comfortable 2-0 success at home to AmaZulu as they made it three wins from three in matches over the past eight days.

Pirates raced into a two-goal lead in Polokwane, but just like in their midweek draw with Cape Town City, then took their foot...

Patosi double leads stunning City fightback at Pirates

Ayanda Patosi scored two excellent second-half goals as Cape Town City rescued a point with a 2-2 draw at Orlando Pirates in a thrilling Absa Premiership clash at Orlando Stadium on Wednesday.

Pirates appeared to be cruising when they led 2-0 early thanks to goals from Zambia international Augustine Mulenga and Innocent Maela, but allowed City back into the game in the second and Patosi punished the home side.

City were missing head coach Benni McCarthy, who stayed in Cape Town after...

Khama Billiat inspires Kaizer Chiefs to big win over Cape Town City

Kaizer Chiefs bounced back to form in emphatic style with a comprehensive 4-1 victory over Cape Town City in their Absa Premiership clash on Saturday.

It was a first league win of the season for Giovanni Solinas' side as they weathered a City storm and then picked their opponents apart in the second period after the home side had been reduced to 10 men following a red card for defender Taariq Fielies.

It will be relief for Solinas, who had only won one of his eight games in charge...

Thandani Ntshumayelo successfully appeals drug ban

Former Orlando Pirates midfielder Thandani Ntshumayelo has been cleared to play again after successfully appealing a drug ban.

'Bibo' was suspended for four years after testing positive for cocaine in 2016, but is now free to resume his career.

"Thandani was found guilty of an anti-doping violation in August 2016 and a four-year sanction was imposed," Ntshumayelo's lawyer, Mpho Sethaba, told Soccer Laduma.

"Thandani was recently given an opportunity to appeal the sanction and did so in July 2018....

Irvin Khoza issues warning around player abuse

Orlando Pirates chairman Irvin Khoza has leapt to the defence of underfire striker Thamsanqa Gabuza, and warned that constant abuse of players could have a detrimental effect on their personal lives.

Gabuza made headlines this week when he walked off the pitch against Black Leopards, having put in the cross that led to Pirates' opening goal.

He eventually returned, but was shown a second yellow -- the first for taking off his shirt and throwing it at the fans -- for not getting the referee's permission...
