Olympiakos owner Evangelos Marinakis has fined his players for their disappointing results.

Olympiakos owner Evangelos Marinakis has fined his players €400,000 and ordered some of them to go on holiday until the end of the season after a draw left the defending Greek Superleague champions third in the table.

Marinakis, who also owns Nottingham Forest, said he will call up players from the club's under-20 squad for the final four games following the 1-1 draw against Levadiakos on Saturday.

Olympiakos organise protest against Finance Minister Euclid Tsakalotos

PIRAEUS, Greece -- Scores of football fans clashed with police in the Greek port city of Piraeus, near Athens, on Wednesday as they tried to disrupt a speech given by the country's finance minister.

Police fired tear gas to disperse the youths, who threw rocks and set fire to trash bins. The violence broke out a day after the government ended a two-week suspension of the Greek football league after saying it had received a commitment from clubs to crack down on violence.

A prosecutor on Friday charged Marinakis, also a ship and media owner, for engaging in drug-related criminal activity. The charges stem from the 2014 seizure in the Greek port of Piraeus of a tanker carrying 2.1 tons of heroin.

Marinakis has been implicated by, among others, a businessman in whose house police seized &euros;30 million...

PAOK deducted three points after violence against Olympiakos

Olympiakos coach Oscar Garcia was hit in the face by a thrown object.

A Greek sports court has deducted three points from title contenders PAOK for match violence and ordered the northern club to play their next two home matches without fans.

A Feb. 25 match between PAOK and Olympiakos was cancelled after Olympiakos coach Oscar Garcia was hit in the face by a roll of paper thrown from the stands.

The court on Monday awarded the match to Olympiakos. The ruling was not immediately implemented because PAOK has the right to appeal.
