Greek league deducts three points from Panathinaikos for fan violence

Fan violence led the Greek Super League to deduct points from Panathinaikos.

The Greek Super League has hit Panathinaikos with a three-point deduction following fan violence during their 2-1 win over Olympiakos on Sunday.

The match was delayed before kickoff at Leoforos when Pana's Gate 13 ultras entered the pitch to attack Olympiakos manager Vitor Pereira as he walked over to the goal in front of them.

The violence led the Greek government to suspend league matches this weekend.

Panathinaikos were also fined 100,000 euros and forced to play their next two home matches behind...

The suspension of the Greek top-flight will last only one week.

The Greek government has scaled back its suspension of professional football in the country, which will now only include the top-flight Super League and will last for one week.

On Wednesday, it had been announced that all professional football in the country was suspended indefinitely due to recent incidents of violence both at Sunday's match between Olympiakos and Panathinaikos, as well as a brawl between club officials at a meeting on Tuesday.

Greek matches were suspended after trouble erupted at Panithinaikos.

Olympiakos midfielder Matthieu Dossevi has told RMC he does not understand why the Greek league has been suspended after violence at last weekend's Athens derby against Panathinaikos.

Dossevi, 27, played in the match, which saw Panathinaikos fans invading the pitch and delaying the start of the second half. A number of missiles were hurled at the visiting Olympiakos players as they lost 2-1.
