Eric Abidal to announce retirement on Friday, says Olympiakos coach Michel

Abidal was an ever-present in the Champions League for Olympiakos this season.

Eric Abidal will call time on his playing career on Friday, Olympiakos coach Michel has confirmed.

Abidal, 35, will formally announce his retirement at a news conference scheduled for Friday, according to reports in France, ending a career which saw him win four league titles and two Champions Leagues during his six years at the Camp Nou.

Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has told Eric Abidal that his former club "would open its doors" to him should he wish to return to work at the Camp Nou.
