Aaron Hughes has a home at Oldham if he wants it, Stephen Robinson says.

Oldham boss Stephen Robinson wants to instil the traits he saw in Northern Ireland at his new club and his quest will be helped if he can land 103-cap international Aaron Hughes.

Northern Irishman Robinson, 41, vacated his position as part of his country's coaching set-up and his role as Motherwell's number two at the weekend to take up his first managerial post at SportsDirect.com Park.

Steve Robinson appointed as new manager of Oldham Athletic

Steve Robinson had been serving as Northern Ireland first-team coach.

Oldham have finally ended their search for a new first-team manager with the appointment of Steve Robinson.

The 41-year-old will leave his position as Motherwell assistant manager and Northern Ireland first-team coach in order to take over at Boundary Park.

Robinson, a former Bournemouth and Luton player who won seven caps for Northern Ireland, will succeed John Sheridan after the 51-year-old departed Oldham in May to take over at Notts County.

FA to probe Millwall for fan striking Oldham's Anthony Gerrard

The Football Association will investigate reports that Oldham defender Anthony Gerrard was struck by a Millwall fan on Saturday.

Oldham lost 3-0 as Millwall secured a League One play-off place at The Den.

There was a pitch invasion at the final whistle and Gerrard said on his personal Twitter account on Saturday night that a Millwall fan gave him a "dig," before saying his "five-year-old hits harder."
