ATK, Chennaiyin dominate ISL Team of the Season

Here is our team of the 2019-20 ISL season, picked with the intention of having a reasonable ability to actually play well together on the pitch if the hypothetical scenario ever came through. Of course, there have been minor alterations and some imagination added to the mix, but we are reasonably confident that the team makes rational sense playing in this 4-2-3-1 formation. And yes, as per ISL rules, there are only five foreigners in the team.

ISL playoffs: Chennaiyin vs Goa; BFC vs ATK; away goals to apply

After an entertaining draw at NorthEast United, the 2019-20 ISL league stages have ended with Chennaiyin in fourth place, one point behind Bengaluru. This means that the first semifinal will see Chennaiyin face table-toppers Goa, while Bengaluru will go up against second-placed ATK in the other fixture.

In an open match on a rainy night in Guwahati, a much-changed Chennaiyin lineup took the lead with a strike from Afghan defender Masih Saighani before a controversial incident saw Chennaiyin left...

ISL: NorthEast United vs Chennaiyin postponed due to Guwahati curfew

The Indian Super League (ISL) match between NorthEast United FC and Chennaiyin FC in Guwahati scheduled for Thursday has been postponed indefinitely after the host city was placed under a curfew following protests against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill.

The game was slated to be played at the Indira Gandhi Athletics Stadium there. "Due to the ongoing unrest in Guwahati, match 37 between NorthEast United FC and Chennaiyin FC has been postponed until further notice," the ISL said in a statement....

The ISL Wrap: Classic Castel, Goa's discipline woes and more

Star of the week

Sergio Castel

Two goals in two games to earn Jamshedpur FC a win at FC Goa and a draw against NorthEast United this week. The 24-year-old forward, on loan from Atletico Madrid, has hit the ground running in India. Combining clinical finishing with tireless, endless running, Castel has been putting on some exceptional displays of classical centre forward play.

With the teams having all played six games, Jamshedpur are tied on top of the table with ATK, with Castel scoring five of...

ISL wrap: Erik Paartalu's stunning entry, Chennaiyin's misery and more

Star of the week

Erik Paartalu.

Bengaluru FC have missed the big man in central midfield. Against Chennai, on Sunday, he owned it. He shielded the defence, started attacks, and scored the all-important opening goal after a nervy start that had promised to develop into one of those 'why-is-nothing-going-in' games.

With Dimas Delgado next to him and Raphael Augusto in front of him, there's no better midfield trio in this country.
