Maribor and Aberdeen to observe silence after youth players' deaths

A one-minute silence will be observed before Maribor's UEFA Europa League tie against Aberdeen on Thursday following the death of two young players from the Slovenian club.

Striker Zoran Baljak and left-back Damjan Marjanovic, both 20, died in a car accident as they returned from training on Tuesday.

Goalkeeper Ljubomir Moravac, 19, was seriously injured and defender Ziga Lipuscek, 19, suffered minor injuries.

Aston Villa's Stiliyan Petrov makes first appearance after beating leukaemia

Stiliyan Petrov returned to Aston Villa in his first game in four years.

Stiliyan Petrov made his first Aston Villa appearance in more than four years as Roberto Di Matteo's side hammered Austrians Gak 1902 8-0.

Petrov played the second half as Villa romped home over their Austrian sixth-tier opponents, the 37-year-old stepping up his comeback after beating leukaemia.

Bulgaria midfielder Petrov last turned out for Villa in March 2012, before retiring because of his illness.

Celtic, Steaua through to Champions League third qualifying round

Ronny Deila's Celtic will now face Azerbaijani champions Qarabag in the Champions League third qualifying round.

Celtic eased past Stjarnan in the return leg of their Champions League second qualifying round tie, but not before an early scare against the Icelandic part-timers.
