Schalke head coach Roberto Di Matteo felt his side gave Chelsea too much respect after the Germans were thrashed 5-0 in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday.

Kevin-Prince Boateng has been ruled out of Schalke's match at Stuttgart, but could return for the crucial Champions League clash at Maribor on Wednesday.

Midfielder Boateng, 27, missed Schalke's 4-1 win against Mainz last weekend as he underwent treatment for ankle problems, with some reports in Germany questioning whether he would need surgery.
