Nimes coach blasts former club president over match-fixing

Nimes coach Jose Pasqualetti has attacked former club president Jean-Marc Conrad over the match-fixing scandal which will see them demoted one division at the end of the season.

Following a hearing on Monday and Tuesday into seven Ligue 2 games last season, Nimes were found to have fixed four games as they battled successfully to avoid relegation.

Nimes to be relegated from Ligue 2 after match-fixing probe

PARIS -- Second-tier French club Nimes will be relegated at the end of the season after their former president was found guilty of trying to fix matches.

After interviewing about 50 officials, players and coaches over two days, the French league disciplinary commission said on Tuesday that Jean-Marc Conrad tried to fix four matches as his club fought off relegation last season. He was banned from football-related activities for seven years.

Nimes president stands down over match-fixing charges

Nimes president Jean-Marc Conrad has stood down and Caen counterpart Jean-Francois Fortin has taken a leave of absence in order to fight match-fixing charges.

The Ligue de Football Professionnel announced on Tuesday that arrests had been made over alleged corruption in Ligue 2 last season.

No clubs or individuals were officially named in connection with the allegations, but Conrad has now announced his departure from Nimes -- though he denies any involvement in match-fixing.

Lens out of Coupe de la Ligue

Ligue 2 leaders Lens are out of the Coupe de la Ligue after suffering a 4-3 defeat at the hands of AS Creteil.

Lens took the lead through Adamo Coulibaly, but Creteil took control of the match through goals to Jean-Michel Lesage, Ibrahima Seck and Marcel Essombe.
