Nice celebrate their second goal of the game in a 2-1 win vs. Marseille.

Marseille missed the chance to reclaim top spot in Ligue 1 after they slumped to a 2-1 defeat at Nice on Friday.

Victory for Les Olympiens at the Allianz Riviera would have seen them move above Lyon into first place, but Marcelo Bielsa's side offered very little in attack and deserved nothing from the game.

Nice may remain unable to register recent signing Hatem Ben Arfa, but goals from Romain Genevois and Niklas Hult ensured they ended a difficult week in a positive manner.

Nice get English FA backing over Hatem Ben Arfa FIFA case

Hatem Ben Arfa has been forced to wait until he is cleared to play.

Nice have shared a new Football Association statement supporting their case to be allowed to register recent signing Hatem Ben Arfa.

Ben Arfa, 27, capped 13 times by France, is yet to feature for his new side due to article 5.3 of FIFA's transfer regulations, which prevents players representing three clubs in the same season.

The Frenchman spent time on loan at Hull this season and also appeared for Newcastle's under-21 team, a match FIFA indicated last week "must be considered as official" and...

Hatem Ben Arfa availability still uncertain, LFP asks FIFA for guidance

Hatem Ben Arfa remains unable to make an appearance for Nice.

The French football league (LFP) will ask FIFA for further clarification before it rules on whether Hatem Ben Arfa can play for Nice, RMC reports.

Ben Arfa, 27, joined Nice as a free agent earlier this month following the cancellation of his contract with Newcastle United by mutual consent.

However, with the France international having played for the Premier League club's under-21 side in August and made eight Premier League appearances while on loan at Hull City in the first half of the season,...

Hatem Ben Arfa voices frustration at uncertainty over Nice move

Hatem Ben Arfa is a free agent after parting company with Hull.

Hatem Ben Arfa says he cannot understand why he might not be allowed to complete a move to Nice, with the French Football League due to discuss the matter on Tuesday.

Ben Arfa is seeking to sign for Nice as a free agent after his Newcastle contract was cancelled earlier this month, but could be prevented by FIFA rules which state a player cannot play for more than two clubs in the same season.

Nice continued their winning start to the new year, coming from behind to post a 2-1 victory at Bordeaux.

A penalty from Diego Rolan gave Les Girondins the lead shortly after the half hour, but that was cancelled out by Jordan Amavi midway through the second half.

A draw then seemed the most likely outcome but Alassane Plea had other ideas and struck in the dying seconds to earn Nice back-to-back wins in Ligue 1.

Claude Puel's men move up to 10th on the back of Friday's result while Bordeaux, who have...
