Nice midfielder Carlos Eduardo, right, celebrates with teammates after scoring against Lyon on Saturday.

Valentin Eysseric's first goal of the season dealt a severe blow to Lyon's title hopes as 10-man Nice snatched a late 2-1 win at Stade de Gerland.

Nice took a surprise 23rd-minute lead through Carlos Eduardo but when Lyon drew level in the 56th minute through a Maxime Gonalons penalty after Lloyd Palun was sent off, a fifth successive defeat looked on the cards for the visitors.

However, Nice not only held their high-flying hosts at bay, they even managed to snatch an 86th-minute winner themselves...

Christophe Mandanne scored both Guingamp's goals in the second half in their win at Nice

Nice's worrying slide towards the foot of Ligue 1 continued on Friday night as they went down 2-1 at home to Guingamp in a match played behind closed doors.

Christophe Mandanne scored twice for Guingamp, putting them ahead in the 49th minute and then restoring their lead moments after Eric Bautheac's 57th minute equaliser.

The defeat means Nice, without a win since January 23, have taken only three points from their last seven matches, and they could find themselves in 17th place by the end of the...

Bastia claimed a 2-1 comeback win over nine-man Nice in an ill-tempered match at Stade Armand-Cesari-Furiani which was briefly halted after fans threw balls onto the pitch.

Carlos Eduardo opened the scoring for Nice in the 18th minute but Bastia levelled less than 10 minutes later through Guillaume Gillet.

Nice were reduced to 10 men just before half-time when Gregoire Puel, son of coach Claude, was sent off for a nasty tackle on Gael Danic, with Giovanni Sio scoring the winning goal for the home side...

Nice to play Ligue 1 game behind closed doors after fan trouble

Nice fans
The clash with Marseille was lit up by flares.

Nice have been ordered to play a Ligue 1 game behind closed doors after their fans again stepped out of line.

The Tribune Populaire Sud of Nice's Allianz Riviera stadium had already been threatened with closure following unsavoury incidents following the club's Ligue 1 meeting with Bastia in October.

After the "use of very many flares" by the same section of the ground during the derby with Marseille in mid-January, the French Football League's (LFP) Disciplinary Commission decided on Thursday that...

Montpellier continued their fine form to move into the top six of Ligue 1 with a 2-1 home victory over Nice.

Eric Bautheac stroked home a 36th-minute penalty to give Nice a surprise lead but Bryan Dabo levelled moments before the break and Paraguay international Lucas Barrios struck midway through the second half to give Montpellier a fifth win in seven games.

Nice have now gone five matches since winning three in a row after the winter break and lie in 13th place in Ligue 1.

Despite a bright start...
