Marseille boss Marcelo Bielsa 'helps out Newell's with €1.6m donation'

After a sixth-placed finish and two failed coaches, Marcelo Bielsa is the change that has been needed at Marseille.

Marseille coach Marcelo Bielsa has given 1.6 million euros to help his former club Newell's Old Boys, according to Argentine newspaper Clarin.

After a slow start to his tenure at the Stade Velodrome, Bielsa has steered OM five points clear at the top of the Ligue 1 table thanks to seven successive wins.

The Argentine has not, however, forgotten his hometown club Newell's, where he started his short-lived playing career in the late 1970s and his coaching career with a two-year tenure between 1990...
