Atlanta draws in front of 70,425 fans; Diego Valeri goal streak hits record 8

An MLS-record crowd of 70,425 watched hosts Atlanta United trade goals with Orlando City in an entertaining draw.

On a record-setting day in Major League Soccer, Atlanta United drew the largest crowd in MLS history before Portland's Diego Valeri became the first to score in eighth consecutive games.

Josef Martinez recorded his second hat trick in four days as Atlanta United entertained an record crowd in a 3-3 draw with Orlando City on Saturday.

Dom Dwyer stunned the 70,425 fans at the new Mercedes-Benz Stadium with a powerful header from Donny Toia's cross to put Orlando ahead in the 10th minute.

Timbers beat NYCFC to go top in West; Jozy Altidore lifts Toronto by San Jose

Diego Valeri was the only player to etch his name on the score-sheet, with the Timbers winning away to a hostile NYCFC crowd.

Diego Valeri scored for the seventh straight game to match the MLS record and help the Portland Timbers move to the top of the Western Conference with a 1-0 win at New York City FC on Saturday.

The only goal came just before halftime when Darren Mattocks dispossessed Andrea Pirlo deep in his own zone -- leaving the Italy legend calling for a foul that never came -- and fed Valeri in the center of the box.
