Punchless Revs need own goal to draw Timbers

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- To New England Revolution coach Jay Heaps, there's a fine line between playing with urgency and flat-out rushing it. And on Wednesday, he saw far too much of the latter.

In a match in which his attack failed to record a single shot on goal during the first half, Heaps said he saw many instances in which his attack was trying too hard, and needed a late own goal just to salvage a 1-1 draw from the Portland Timbers.

"I think we're pressing a little bit," Heaps said. "When we're...

Montreal Impact levels late vs. NYCFC; Portland, New England draw as well

Goal! Vancouver Whitecaps FC 1, Sporting Kansas City 0. Christian Bolanos (Vancouver Whitecaps FC) left footed shot from the center of the box the top left corner.

Dominic Oduro scored in the opening seconds of stoppage time and the Montreal Impact escaped with a 1-1 draw against New York City FC on Wednesday night.

Montreal earned a free kick along the right sideline in the 90th minute and Didier Drogba sent the ball into the box. Two Impact players broke free, with Oduro getting his head on the ball and sending it just inside the post for his third goal.

New York City took the lead in the 51st minute on a great buildup that led to RJ Allen's first goal....

Revs' winless streak reaches five

Lamar Neagle scored on a penalty in the first half and D.C. United added two late goals to beat the Revs.

A late collapse erased any hopes the New England Revolution harbored at getting a result on Saturday as they fell 3-0 to D.C. United at RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C.

Despite conceding a 33rd-minute penalty to Lamar Neagle, the Revolution were able to mount a strong sequence of attacking soccer after the 80th minute, and were poised to equalize.

But any thought of a comeback came crashing down when Luciano Acosta chipped a brilliant ball over Bobby Shuttleworth in the 86th minute. A 90+2 minute Alvaro...

Gio dos Santos, Steven Gerrard help Galaxy rout RSL; Union beat NYCFC

Emmanuel Boateng had a goal and two assists and the LA Galaxy beat Real Salt Lake 5-2.

Giovani dos Santos and Steven Gerrard scored to highlight the LA Galaxy's 5-2 win over Real Salt Lake on Saturday night.

RSL keeper Nick Rimando, making his 400th MLS start, saved Gerrard's penalty in the sixth minute and Juan Manuel Martinez gave the Utah club the early lead on a header 10 minutes later.

But Gyasi Zardes tied it for LA with a right-footed blast in the 19th minute and Mike Magee smashed in Emmanuel Boateng's cross for the go-ahead goal in the 26th.
