Wondo fires San Jose past LA Galaxy, Whitecaps end Revolution's streak

The San Jose Earthquakes triumphed 3-1 over the LA Galaxy at Avaya Stadium courtesy of goals from Chris Wondolowski, Cordell Cato and Clarence Goodson.

Chris Wondolowski scored his ninth goal of the season as the San Jose Earthquakes beat the LA Galaxy 3-1 in the California Clasico.

Matias Perez Garcia added two assists for the Quakes, the first on a well-placed cross that Wondolowski smashed into the net in the 28th minute for a 1-all tie. Wondolowski moved alone into second place the MLS goal race, three behind Columbus' Kei Kamara.

Clarence Goodson gave San Jose the lead in the 53rd minute, heading home Perez Garcia's corner kick.

DC United rally from a goal down to beat New England Revolution

Charlie Davies' early goal against his former club DC United would not be enough as the Chris Rolfe's two goal effort powered his side 2-1 past New England.

WASHINGTON -- Chris Rolfe scored two second-half goals within 11 minutes, as D.C. United came from behind to beat the New England Revolution 2-1.

Rolfe smashed a volley into the top of the net for the tying goal in the 70th minute. Fabian Espindola's service from the right flank floated just over leaping defender Teal Bunbury's head to find Rolfe's right foot.

Rolfe then put United ahead from the penalty spot in the 81st minute with a blast into the right corner. Miguel Aguilar drew the penalty...

New York Cosmos send New York City FC crashing out of the U.S. Open Cup

The New York Cosmos pulled off a major upset by beating New York City FC on penalties after the match finished 2-2 in the U.S. Open Cup on Wednesday.

N.Y.C.F.C. looked to have the game settled thanks to two first half goals from Kwadwo Poku, but the Cosmos -- who ply their trade in the North American Soccer League -- retaliated after the break. Leo Fernandes struck in the 65th minute and then Lucky Mkosana netted a goal in the 90th minute, forcing the game into extra time and, ultimately, penalty...

Seattle Sounders smash FC Dallas to move back to the MLS summit

While FC Dallas started the brighter, it was the Seattle Sounders who scored three unanswered goals to claim all three points at home.

Lamar Neagle, Obafemi Martins and Leo Gonzalez all scored in the second half as the Seattle Sounders beat FC Dallas 3-0 on Saturday night to move back atop the MLS standings.

Late in the 55th minute, Neagle took a pass from Brad Evans, went to the left side of the penalty area and drilled a 20-yard shot into the far right corner past goalkeeper Dan Kennedy for his third goal of the year.

Martins, who entered in the 61st minute and wore a facemask to protect his surgically repaired broken nose, made...
