New England Revolution sign U.S. U20 star Justin Rennicks to Homegrown deal

Forward Justin Rennicks has joined the New England Revolution as a Homegrown Player, the MLS club announced.

Rennicks, 19, is a product of the Revolution's Academy, where he spent five years before going on to play two seasons at Indiana University.

He was the Academy Player of the Year in 2015 and 2016.

Frankie Amaya is the youngest player in this year's draft.

Expansion side FC Cincinnati selected UCLA midfielder Frankie Amaya No. 1 overall in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft on Friday.

"This is what I worked my whole life for," Amaya told at the draft in Chicago. "This is a crazy moment."

Amaya, 18, is the youngest player in the draft, but his upside is such that he's expected to adapt well to the professional game, even in a central playmaking role that is usually the domain of foreign players.

Edgar Castillo traded to Revolution; Kelyn Rowe goes to Sporting KC; Diego Rubio to Rapids

Edgar Castillo will head to the New England Revolution, Kelyn Rowe will go to Sporting Kansas City, and Diego Rubio will play for Colorado Rapids following two trades on Tuesday involving the three clubs.

The Revolution acquired Castillo for Rowe from Colorado. The Rapids then sent Rowe, $200,000 in general allocation money, and $100,000 in target allocation money to Kansas City for Rubio.

Chelsea and the New England Revolution have confirmed they will play a friendly as part of their campaign against antisemitism.

The match, dubbed "Game for Change," will be played in Spring of 2019 at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts.

Chris Tierney is retiring after 11 seasons and 246 appearances for the New England Revolution.

New England Revolution defender Chris Tierney, 32, announced his retirement on Thursday, bringing an end to his 11-year career with his hometown team.

Tierney, who grew up in nearby Wellesley, Massachusetts, was selected by the Revs in the 2008 Supplemental Draft. He made 246 appearances for New England, third most in club history, and scored 13 goals throughout his career.
