The Seattle Sounders beat reigning MLS champions LA Galaxy 3-2 thanks to a late winner from midfielder Erick Friberg.

Erik Friberg took advantage of a defensive mistake and scored in the 73rd minute, lifting the Seattle Sounders past the LA Galaxy 3-2 on Wednesday night in the knockout round of the MLS Cup playoffs.

After getting eliminated from the playoffs by LA three times since 2010, Seattle finally got the better of its rival to the south and ended the year for the Galaxy, who had won three of the last four MLS Cup titles.

New England Revolution ready for DC United in MLS Cup playoffs

New England Revolution striker Charlie Davies says his team has its "mojo back" and are ready to make a deep run into this year's MLS Cup playoffs, despite not securing a postseason spot until the final day of the regular season.

The Revs lost to the LA Galaxy in the 2014 final, but Davies called the playoffs a whole new season and believes his team are in a strong position to make another run at the league title.

The New York Red Bulls claim the 2015 MLS Supporters' Shield for compiling the best record during the regular season following their Decision Day victory on Sunday at Toyota Park against the Chicago Fire.

Sacha Kljestan scored a goal and provided an assist to help the New York Red Bulls win the Supporters' Shield as Major League Soccer's regular-season champion with a 2-1 victory over the Chicago Fire on Sunday night.

The top-seeded Red Bulls, who have a first-round bye in the Eastern Conference playoffs, won their second Supporters' Shield in three seasons. They also snapped a 14-game winless streak at Toyota Park.

The Fire finished with consecutive losses and at the bottom of the Eastern Conference.
