Napoli coach Maurizio Sarri has confirmed he has signed a new contract with the Serie A club.

Sarri agreed a one-year deal when he became coach last summer, arriving from Empoli, with the Azzurri having an option to extend that arrangement.

Having guided the club to second spot in Serie A and a place in next season's Champions League, Sarri has convinced president Aurelio De Laurentiis to activate that option.

Serie A games could face match-fixing investigation - report

An investigation into match-fixing in Italy may be expanded to include fixtures from Serie A, according to a report in La Repubblica on Wednesday.

Earlier this week, it was revealed how anti-mafia police in Italy had made 10 arrests in relation to a suspected manipulation of two Avellino fixtures in Serie B in 2014.

According to La Repubblica, a consortium of Italian bookmakers has prepared a dossier evidencing anomalous betting behaviour on five Serie A matches from the 2015-16 season.

The Roma supporter found guilty of murdering a Napoli fan prior to the 2014 Coppa Italia final has been sentenced to 26 years in prison.

Daniele De Santis shot Ciro Esposito amid clashes between fans in Rome, which took place before the final between Napoli and Fiorentina on May 3, 2014.

According to a police reconstruction of the events, De Santis fired at Napoli fans four times as he fled from attacks, hitting Esposito in one of his lungs. Esposito died 53 days later.

Napoli midfielder Mirko Valdifiori is set to leave the club after only one season, according to his agent Mario Giuffridi.

Valdifiori, 30, followed Maurizio Sarri from Empoli to Napoli in the summer, but he made just six appearances as the club finished second in Serie A and is now expected to move on.

Frosinone vs. Napoli betting activity prompts investigation

Records were broken at both ends of the pitch in another spectacular Serie A season.

Unusual betting activity in the city of Frosinone before the club's Serie A defeat to Napoli on Saturday has led to an investigation being opened into a suspected manipulation of the game.

Three betting companies -- Intralot, Eurobet and Goldbet -- all noted large sums of money being placed on accumulator bets that involved one Frosinone player being sent off and Napoli winning the game.
