Yassine El Ghanassy, right, moved to Nantes from Oostende in the summer.

Nantes midfielder Yassine El Ghanassy denied reports he has been given a prison sentence for repeated driving offences, telling 20 Minutes that he's "not a bandit."

Belgian and French media reported that El Ghanassy had been given a six-month jail term by a Bruges court this week for a 15th driving offence, the last of which had allegedly been committed while he was banned from driving.

Marseille's Dimitri Payet was not a gentleman over throw - Claudio Ranieri

Dimitri Payet was criticised by Nantes coach Claudio Ranieri.

Nantes coach Claudio Ranieri accused Dimitri Payet of ungentlemanly conduct after the Marseille midfielder's refusal to throw the ball back to his side led to a stoppage-time equaliser.

With Marseille 1-0 down, Payet did not give the ball back to visitors Nantes after they had kicked it out with goalkeeper Ciprian Tatarusanu and centre-back Diego Carlos needing treatment for cramp.

Marseille then won a corner, from which Florian Thauvin fired home after a goalmouth scramble.

"There was a throw-in,...

Nantes would release Claudio Ranieri for Italy job; coach interested

Claudio Ranieri
Claudio Ranieri has been strongly linked with the Italy job.

Claudio Ranieri could be freed from his job at Nantes if he is offered the post of Italy coach, the French club's president has indicated.

Luigi Di Biagio has been in temporary charge of Italy after Gian Piero Ventura stepped down in the aftermath of failure to qualify for the World Cup.

Ranieri has been consistently linked with the position, which the Italian FA intends to fill on a permanent basis in the summer.
