Chelsea send U.S.'s Matt Miazga to Nantes on loan with option to buy

ESPN FC's Ligue 1 correspondent Julien Laurens gives his take on Matt Miazga's rumoured loan to Nantes and how it will benefit the Chelsea defender.

Chelsea have sent United States international Matt Miazga on a season-long loan to Nantes and given the French club the option to make the deal permanent next summer.

Miazga, 23, also signed a new contract with Chelsea through the 2021-22 season.

The New York Red Bulls product joined Chelsea in January 2016 and made two Premier League starts for the Blues that April.

But he's spent the last two seasons on loan with Vitesse Arnhem, making 72 appearances in all competitions and helping them win the...

Chelsea loaning U.S. defender Matt Miazga to Nantes - source

Robert Lewandowski, Arturo Vidal and others make up today's Transfer Rater, but who's most likely to make a move before the summer window closes?
Chelsea's Maurizio Sarri believes Alvaro Morata showed he had improved dramatically since their match against Perth Glory after a fine display in their win over Inter Milan.

Chelsea and United States defender Matt Miazga is on his way to France to finalize a season-long loan move to Ligue 1 side Nantes, a source confirmed to ESPN FC.

Caen, who narrowly avoided relegation from Ligue 1 last season, had also been chasing Miazga, but the U.S. international ultimately decided to go with Nantes, who finished ninth in May.

Foot Mercato was the first to report...

Nantes hire coach Miguel Cardoso to replace Claudio Ranieri

Nantes hired Portuguese coach Miguel Cardoso on Wednesday to succeed Claudio Ranieri.

Cardoso, 46, was in charge of Rio Ave last season as the club finished fifth in the Primeira Liga and earned a spot in the Europa League.

Formerly an assistant for Braga, Sporting Lisbon and Shakhtar Donetsk, Cardoso signed a two-year contract with Nantes.

Ranieri, the former Leicester City and Chelsea boss, announced last month that he was leaving Nantes after one season following a ninth-place finish.

NYC FC's Patrick Vieira wanted by Nantes to replace Claudio Ranieri

ESPN FC's Julien Laurens weighs in on Patrick Vieira's managerial future and believes a job in Europe could catapult the NYCFC boss' career.

New York City FC manager Patrick Vieira is wanted by Nantes to replace Claudio Ranieri after the former Leicester, Chelsea and Juventus manager left the club.

Nantes president Waldemar Kita told L'Equipe he has already made headway in his search for a new boss, and said Vieira, who has also been linked with Arsenal, is being considered.

"We're thinking about everyone," the Nantes owner said when asked about Vieira, and also confirmed he had already spoken to Barcelona's former reserve team coach...
