Nantes kept a third straight clean sheet as their unbeaten start to the season continued with a 1-0 win against Reims.

The hosts largely dominated and could easily have broken the deadlock but Kolbeinn Sigthorsson fired over before Johnny Placide superbly denied Johan Audel.

Then, with just less than quarter of an hour to play, Nantes got their reward when Ermir Lenjani beat Placide from a tight angle after latching on to Audel's pass.

Defeat for Reims brought an end to their impressive start to the...

Newly-promoted Angers remain unbeaten in Ligue 1 after a goalless draw at home against Nantes.

After their surprise 2-0 victory over Montpellier, Angers were brimming with confidence but were restricted to long-range efforts in the first half as Nantes goalkeeper Remy Riou comfortably saved Gilles Sunu's strike.

Sunu, who scored Angers' second in last week's win, should have put Stephane Moulin's side ahead in the second-half. Thomas Mangani's free-kick found the former Arsenal striker but he could...

Brazilian Adryan had an impressive debut for the hosts and was at the centre of most of their good work, but the former Leeds forward failed to breach a resolute Guingamp defence.

But, with less than a minute to play, Johan Audel's dangerous-looking cross was inadvertently turned...

Aston Villa poised to sign Jordan Veretout from Ligue 1 Nantes

Veretout scored seven goals in 36 Ligue 1 outings last season.

Aston Villa are set to make Nantes midfielder Jordan Veretout their fourth signing from the French top flight this summer.

Veretout, 22, starred for his Ligue 1 club last season and Villa are close to adding the France under-21 international to their ranks.

"We're in agreement on almost everything," Nantes president Waldemar Kita told L'Equipe.

"I have to give in. He's 22. He's got a great future ahead...
