Costa move closing, Lallana on board

The ESPN FC crew break down all the rumours surrounding Barcelona's Cesc Fabregas and discuss where he may be headed next.

Costa deal close

We thought this rumour had gone quiet -- a little too quiet for Transfer Talk's liking -- but it now seems Diego Costa is set to complete his move to Chelsea in the near future.

According to The Daily Telegraph, the transfer could be signed and sealed by the end of the week, depending on Costa making a sufficient recovery from his hamstring injury to undergo a medical.

A fee of 32 million pounds has been quoted for the Atletico Madrid striker, whose arrival at Stamford Bridge could spark a spending spree for Jose Mourinho.

Man United in Enzo race

Manchester United have been handed a boost in their bid to sign Benfica star Enzo Perez after the 28-year-old was confirmed in Argentina's 23-man World Cup squad.

The Old Trafford outfit's hopes of securing a work permit for Perez looked slim before his call-up, but cutting through the red tape should no longer be a problem.

The Daily Star says United are now ready to start negotiations with Benfica, but have baulked at the midfielder's 25-million-pound release clause.

Tottenham closing on double deal

Poor Southampton. They've already lost their manager and second-highest scorer this summer, and it looks like more departures will soon follow.

New Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly keen to raid his former club for 15-goal forward Jay Rodriguez and right-back Nathaniel Clyne, who have also been attracting interest from Arsenal and Liverpool.

Saints have insisted that no one else will leave before Pochettino's replacement is appointed, but the Daily Star reports that Spurs are confident of sealing a double swoop.

Spurs duo on Serie A radar

While Spurs have one eye on their recruitment drive, the other is keeping careful watch over their own stars after Mousa Dembele and Sandro were linked with moves to Serie A.

The duo found themselves in and out of the team under Tim Sherwood in the second half of the season, which has apparently left them both feeling unsettled. We know how much footballers need to be loved.

Napoli are keen on an 8-million-pound move for Sandro, according to The Mirror, while Dembele is a target for Roma, who snapped up former Barcelona midfielder Seydou Keita on a free transfer on Tuesday.

Lallana 'wants Liverpool move'

"In the future everyone will have their 15 minutes of fame," was Andy Warhol's famous prophecy, and it certainly came true for Miami youngster Guillermo Quintero on Tuesday.

Quintero, a huge Liverpool fan, went to meet his heroes at England's training camp, and tweeted out this picture and quote from Adam Lallana , who was signing his shirt:

The tweet was picked up by several media outlets, with the Liverpool Echo reporting: "This is the picture that will bring huge smiles to many Reds fans -- Adam Lallana signing a Liverpool FC jersey for a young fan."

According to The Echo, Quintero's story reinforces suspicions that Lallana will ask Southampton to leave in order to force through a 25 million-pound move to Anfield, with Liverpool prepared to fly their club doctor out to Miami or Brazil to hold a medical.

Congrats to the budding young journalist on the scoop of the summer so far!

Tap-ins

- Now, this is interesting. The Daily Mail claim that Southampton have asked about the possibility of acquiring Javier Hernandez as part of Manchester United's bid for Luke Shaw. The Mexico striker, who is also a target for Valencia, is thought to be eyeing the exit door at Old Trafford after struggling to force his way into the first team this season.

- Prepare for a Premier League rampage after Fulham opted to tear up Brede Hangeland's contract. The club captain had a year left on his deal, but the Cottagers chose to instigate a parting of ways, apparently informing Hangeland of their decision via email. Nothing says "we don't want you" better than an emotionless electronic missive.

- Manchester City should soon complete a deal for Porto midfielder Fernando, reports The Mirror. The 26-year-old is nicknamed "The Octopus", presumably because he makes ten tackles a game (no groaning at the back), and will cost around 15 million pounds.
