Louis Moult's early penalty was enough to end a four-match losing run in the Ladbrokes Premiership for Motherwell and leave Kilmarnock stuck on the bottom of the table.

Moult picked himself up to slot home in the 13th minute and seal a 1-0 win after a tangle with Mark O'Hara led to a soft spot-kick award.

Moult had a goal disallowed and Dom Thomas impressed for Motherwell but there was a general shortage of goalmouth action at Fir Park.

Motherwell handed Kieran Kennedy a start in place of Louis Laing,...

Motherwell needed extra time but they avoided a League Cup shock against League Two hosts East Fife.

Nathan Austin put the part-timers in front on the hour mark but an equaliser from Louis Moult 10 minutes from the end of the regulation 90 minutes prolonged the tie.

And goals either side of the extra-time interval from Scott McDonald and Lionel Ainsworth earned the Premiership side a place in Thursday's draw.

Well manager Ian Baraclough had called for more mental toughness from his players coming into...

Two goals from Steven MacLean saw St Johnstone come from behind to beat Motherwell 2-1 at McDiarmid Park and record their first Ladbrokes Premiership win of the new season.

In a game of two halves, the visitors completely dominated the first period and took the lead through Louis Moult's first goal for the club.

But the Saints turned the match around after the break and MacLean's two strikes - both from close-range - ended a miserable start to the season which had seen his side exit the Europa League...

Aberdeen maintained their perfect start to the Ladbrokes Premiership season with a 2-1 comeback win after another difficult day for Motherwell goalkeeper Connor Ripley in his side's third consecutive defeat.

The Dons fell behind early on to Marvin Johnson's follow-up but levelled with a freak goal in the 25th minute when Niall McGinn's low cross went across Ripley and into the far corner.

The on-loan Middlesbrough goalkeeper had been caught up the park for Dundee United's second goal last weekend and...

Gavin Reilly netted his first goal for Hearts to send Robbie Neilson's men to the top of the Ladbrokes Premiership.

Reilly's 33rd-minute penalty gave Hearts the lead on his first start since move from Queen of the South and the hosts were rarely threatened as they went on to secure a 2-0 victory over Motherwell at Tynecastle.

Billy King struck in the 64th minute and Hearts closed out the game to make it three wins out of three, with Kilmarnock's late equaliser against Celtic sending them clear at...
