Motherwell's Marvin Johnson, Scott McDonald and Chris Cadden all struck in the 3-0 win over East Stirling which keeps their side on course for the Betfred Cup last 16.

However, Mark McGhee's team had to wait until the 53rd minute for Johnson's breakthrough after failing to make the most of their early openings.

McDonald netted the second on 77 minutes before Cadden's late third wrapped up the Ladbrokes Premiership outfit's second Group F win. Another victory at Stranraer on Saturday should see them...

Western Sydney Wanderers offer Scott McDonald a 'life-changing proposal'

Western Sydney Wanderers have confirmed the departure of six of their top players. The Grand Final runner-ups are full of praise for coach Tony Popovic.
Scott McDonald
Motherwell would need to agree to Scott McDonald on a free transfer in order for him to join the Western Sydney Wanderers.

Scott McDonald has reportedly been offered a "life-changing proposal" to join the Western Sydney Wanderers and spearhead their A-League and AFC Champions League campaigns.

The Daily Record reports the former Socceroo has been agonising over his future for the past week after meeting with Wanderers boss Tony Popovic, who is on the hunt for a line-leading striker to replace failed marquee Federico Piovaccari.

McDonald, 32, only signed a contract extension with Scottish club Motherwell earlier this...

Second-half goals from James Tavernier and Martyn Waghorn earned Rangers a 2-0 win at Motherwell in their Betfred Cup opener.

Motherwell were made to rue a series of missed chances in the first half, most of them early on, as Rangers took control after the break.

Tavernier and Waghorn finished brilliantly at either end of the second period as Rangers took control of Group F.

However, Motherwell could have been out of sight before the 10-minute mark. Marvin Johnson got in behind Rangers in the first...

Steve Robinson had been serving as Northern Ireland first-team coach.

Oldham have finally ended their search for a new first-team manager with the appointment of Steve Robinson.

The 41-year-old will leave his position as Motherwell assistant manager and Northern Ireland first-team coach in order to take over at Boundary Park.

Robinson, a former Bournemouth and Luton player who won seven caps for Northern Ireland, will succeed John Sheridan after the 51-year-old departed Oldham in May to take over at Notts County.

Oldham chairman Simon Corney, who saw ex-Leeds and...

Celtic gave boss Ronny Deila a perfect parting gift with a remarkable 7-0 trouncing of Motherwell at Parkhead.

The Ladbrokes Premiership champions hit top form and began their rout in the 21st minute when 18-year-old left-back Kieran Tierney opened the scoring with his first for the club, before goals from midfielder Tom Rogic and stand-in skipper Mikael Lustig had the points secured by the interval.

Further strikes from Stuart Armstrong and Patrick Roberts at the start of the second half put Celtic...
