Bournemouth registered their first win of the season as Marc Wilson's fine strike saw them overcome League Two table-toppers Morecambe 2-1 at the Globe Arena and move into the EFL Cup third round.

Republic of Ireland defender Wilson marked his first appearance since re-joining the Cherries last week with his first club goal since December 2010 as he fired in from considerable range in the 54th minute.

That was after Morecambe had swiftly cancelled out Max Gradel's eighth-minute opener through Cole...

Jamie Devitt scored a stunning goal as Morecambe and York drew 1-1 on the final day of the Sky Bet League Two season at the Globe Arena.

Luke Summerfield gave relegated York the lead in first half injury time before Devitt earned Morecambe a draw with his goal shortly after the break.

Summerfield picked up a loose ball in midfield and drove straight at the Morecambe defence before firing a low left foot shot past Barry Roche from 20 yards out.

The Shrimps should have equalised seconds later when top...

Exeter brought the curtain down on their home campaign with a disappointing 1-1 draw against Morecambe.

Exeter had the better of the chances in a rather lacklustre first half, with Lee Holmes twice having curling shots saved by goalkeeper Barry Roche, while Morecambe did not test home goalkeeper Bobby Olejnik.

Morecambe should have taken the lead on the hour mark when Aaron Wildig found himself through on goal but with only Olejnik to beat, he screwed his shot horribly wide.

The home side then went...

Dean Parrett scored twice as Stevenage secured the double over Morecambe with a 4-1 Sky Bet League Two victory.

Morecambe took the lead in the 19th minute with a goal from Cole Stockton. Jamie Devitt swung in a corner from the right and Chris Doyle threw himself at the ball to direct a superb diving header towards goal with Stockton getting the final touch.

Stevenage were denied a leveller five minutes later by a superb double save from Barry Roche, who blocked Fraser Franks' header before spreading...

Cambridge United secured their biggest ever Football League win on Tuesday, thrashing Morecambe 7-0.

The U's were 5-0 up by half-time and went on to beat a 6-0 scoreline achieved twice, against Darlington in 1971 and Hartlepool in 1989.

Luke Berry gave them the perfect start by converting a sixth-minute penalty after Harrison Dunk was felled by Aaron McGowan.

Dunk then scored on 17 minutes, seeing an effort take a wicked deflection and loop over Kieran O'Hara and into the far corner, and made it 3-0...
