Adama Diakhaby climbed off the bench to net his first Ligue 1 goal and earn Rennes a 1-1 draw at Montpellier.

Daniel Congre put Montpellier ahead in the 22nd minute when he fired home from Ryad Boudebouz's cross.

That was not enough to earn the 2012 French champions the points though, with 20-year-old Rennes substitute Diakhaby - in just his second league appearance - levelling in the 64th minute after latching on to a fine Benjamin Andre through-ball and firing through Geoffrey Jourdren's legs.

Manchester United's Paul Pogba was at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard to watch his brother Florentin in action but the ASSE defender was out of position when Steve Mounie bundled in Montpellier's 23rd-minute opener, after Stephane Ruffier parried Souleymane Camara's initial effort.

St Etienne needed less than a minute of the second half to get back on terms, Kevin Monnet-Paquet firing home left-footed after Jeremy Clement's knockdown.

And it was 2-1 four minutes later as Oussama Tannane swung in a free-kick...

Angers threatened either side of the goal and could have led themselves but Karl Toko Ekambi's rising effort cleared the crossbar. Pierrick Capelle then warmed the palms of Montpellier goalkeeper Geoffrey Jourdren with a 20-yard...

Monaco secured Champions League qualification thanks to a 2-0 victory over Montpellier at Stade Louis II.

The hosts needed three points to ensure that they would play in Europe's premier competition next term with Nice waiting in the wings for any slip-ups from Les Rouges et Blancs.

But Ivan Cavaleiro settled the nerves when he netted in the third minute, slotting home at the near post after good work by Nabil Dirar on the right wing.

Brazilian striker Vagner Love caused problems for the Montpellier...
