Minnesota United reaches loan deal for Luiz Fernando of Fluminense

Luiz Fernando comes to Minnesota United from Brazilian side Fluminense.

Minnesota United has reached an agreement with Fluminense for Brazilian midfielder Luiz Fernando, the club announced on Thursday.

The 22-year-old will join United on loan for the 2018 season, with the MLS club holding an option to buy him at the conclusion of the campaign.

"He'll bring strength, athleticism and obviously talent," MNUFC coach Adrian Heath said. "[Fluminense] is one of the big clubs in all of Brazil. We've watched him over the last few months and we think he'll be a really good...

The good, the bad and the ugly of MLS expansion: What LAFC can expect

Despite MLS finally awarding a franchise to Miami, ESPN FC's Alejandro Moreno says details are still lacking about David Beckham's club.

Major League Soccer is a growing league. Los Angeles Football Club joins as the 23rd team this season, with Nashville, Miami and at least three more clubs on the horizon.

Last year, Atlanta United and Minnesota United came online with different visions of how to succeed in America's top flight. Or does Minnesota's slower start...

Celebrities such as Lionel Messi, Will Smith, Jay-Z, Tom Brady and more pass along their congratulations to David Beckham on his new MLS franchise.

Minnesota United coach Adrian Heath believes Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo could join David Beckham's new MLS club in Miami.

Earlier this week, a group headed by Beckham finally received the green light for an MLS team in Miami to begin playing in 2020.

Beckham's team will likely be helped by having a far bigger budget than the one Heath has to currently work with in Minnesota, and the former Everton player believes the backing of Beckham's ownership group, which includes his manager Simon Fuller,...

Minnesota director in Colombia for Nicolas Benedetti talks - sources

Nicolas Benedetti is the subject of transfer interest from Minnesota United.

Minnesota United technical director Manny Lagos has flown to Colombia to meet with Deportivo Cali officials to discuss the potential transfer of Nicolas Benedetti, MLS sources have told ESPN FC.

Lagos flew down on Wednesday in an attempt to finalize the week-long negotiation process for the attacking midfielder, sources said. Minnesota United did not reply to a request for comment.

Paul Tenorio reported last week that the second-year MLS side offered $4 million for Benedetti, but his club had...

LAFC picks Akron's Joao Moutinho with top pick in MLS SuperDraft

Former Akron University star Joao Moutinho says he's ecstatic about playing for Bob Bradley after being selected No. 1 overall by LAFC in the 2018 MLS SuperDraft.
Bob Bradley discusses what it's been like putting a team together from scratch for the second time in MLS as LAFC continue preparing for their inaugural season.

LAFC selected a pair of full-backs with two of the first three picks in Friday's MLS SuperDraft for college players, starting with Akron's Joao Moutinho with the top selection.

But perhaps the biggest news to come out of the draft came when hosts Philadelphia Union sent $1.2 million in allocation to the Chicago Fire for winger David Accam.

Moutinho, who turned 20 last week, is primarily a left-back but can play in both defense and midfield. The Portugal native scored three goals with five...
