Reading scraped into the third round of the EFL Cup with a 4-2 win on penalties, after a 2-2 draw with MK Dons.

Jordan Obita struck the winning spot-kick for Reading after MK had missed two of their four.

Dean Bowditch gave MK a first-half lead when he calmly fired home from the penalty spot.

Reading levelled 21 minutes from the end when Callum Harriott unleashed a piledriver from long range.

Harriott struck again six minutes from the end of extra time only for Kabongo Tshimanga to force the penalty...

Scott Wootton joins MK Dons after leaving Leeds United

Scott Wootton
Scott Wootton has joined MK Dons after leaving Leeds United.

MK Dons have signed Scott Wootton on a free transfer.

The central defender, 24, has agreed a two-year contract having earlier this summer left Leeds United.

"This is a really good, forward-thinking club and I'm delighted to be here," he told MK Dons' official website.

Wootton, who has also previously played for Manchester United, Peterborough, Nottingham Forest and Rotherham, becomes the Dons' fourth signing of the past week following George Williams, Chuks Aneke and Lee Nicholls.

Gerard Deulofeu lifts Everton to win in friendly as Hull draw

Gerard Deulofeu looked in midseason form as Everton beat MK Dons.

Gerard Deulofeu sparked Everton to a 3-1 win in a friendly at MK Dons on Tuesday.

The winger rounded Dons keeper David Martin in the second minute and sent in a ball that defender Joe Walsh tapped in for an own goal.

Deulofeu followed that up by sending in a cross for Barkley to double Everton's lead in the 19th minute.

Giorgio Rasulo's sharp effort from 18 yards put Dons on the scoresheet, but Everton sub Muhamed Besic wrapped up the win with a deflected header late on.

Hull City managed a 2-2...

Dele Alli meeting at Euro 2016 would be 'fairytale' - Wales' George Williams

Wales international George Williams says it would be "a fairytale" to face Dele Alli, his friend and former teammate, at Euro 2016.

Williams and Alli, both 20, rose through the ranks together at MK Dons and their paths are set to realign when Wales face Alli's England in Lens on June 16.

While Williams was the first of the pair to secure a big move, joining then Premier League side Fulham in 2012, he is still rebuilding his career after missing nine months with a knee injury that he suffered while...

Britt Assombalonga came off the bench to score his first goal in almost 15 months as Nottingham Forest condemned relegated MK Dons to a 2-1 home defeat in their Championship swansong.

After Chris Cohen handed Forest the early lead with his first goal since September 2013, Nicky Maynard levelled for the hosts after 20 minutes.

Danny Fox saw red for Forest after 37 minutes but MK Dons could not capitalise and Assombalonga's first goal since returning from a serious knee injury secured all three points.
