Andre-Pierre Gignac scored twice as Marseille moved up to fourth.

Andre-Pierre Gignac netted a brace as Marseille ended a four-match losing streak to see off lowly Metz 2-0 in Friday's night's Ligue 1 clash at Stade Saint-Symphorien.

The France striker struck the opener seven minutes before the break and added a second just after the hour mark as Marcelo Bielsa's men claimed all three points.

The win moved Marseille up to fourth at the expense of St Etienne on goal difference, with the latter in action at Bastia on Saturday, while Metz appear doomed to relegation...

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Javier Pastore believes his team will be able to secure the Ligue 1 title with four matches remaining.

Paris Saint-Germain emphasised they have hit form at just the right time after beating Metz 3-1 to move three points clear at the top of Ligue 1.

First-half goals from Marco Verratti and Edinson Cavani set PSG on their way to a fifth successive league win and then Gregory van der Wiel wrapped up the points with a late third after Modibo Maiga had pulled a goal back for Metz.

The victory lifts PSG back clear of Lyon at the summit and, with only four games left, another step closer to a third-consecutive...

Wahbi Khazri's late equaliser for Bordeaux denied Metz a precious victory and kept them in deep relegation trouble in Ligue 1.

Eight points adrift of the safety line at the start of play, Metz were on course to pick up three when Ferjani Sassi gave them a first-half lead.

But Khazri's 30-yard free-kick in the 83rd minute denied them as he made it 1-1 and made sure the gap remained at eight points, with Bastia beating fellow strugglers Evian to pull away.

In truth the point, which keeps Bordeaux just...

Lens' stay in Ligue 1 looks even more precarious after they were beaten 3-1 by relegation rivals Metz.

The division's bottom side were desperate to pick up their seventh league victory this season, but goals from Florent Malouda, Bouna Sarr and Modibo Maiga saw Metz to victory. Aristote Madiani netted a late consolation.

Despite the win, Metz remain in trouble, one off the bottom of the table and eight points from safety with six games left.

Lens were given a warning as early as the seventh minute when...

Metz gave themselves at least some hope of staying in Ligue 1 as Modibo Maiga's hat-trick earned them victory over relegation rivals Toulouse.

Wissam Ben Yedder gave Toulouse a 21st-minute lead but Maiga - on loan from West Ham - quickly equalised, put Metz ahead before half-time and completed his treble early in the second period.

Toulouse then had Marcel Tisserand sent off and could only manage a late consolation from Tongo Doumbia.

Ahmed Kashi shot wide for Metz before Ben Yedder opened the scoring...
