Renaud Cohade's set-pieces made the difference for Metz as they beat Angers 2-0 for a second win in three Ligue 1 games.

The summer signing from St Etienne set up the opening goal for Simon Falette just before half-time, the defender climbing highest to meet a free-kick from 40 yards out and send an unstoppable header past Mathieu Michel.

And Falette's central defensive partner Guido Milan scored in almost identical circumstances with a minute remaining after another fine Cohade delivery.

Paris St Germain made it two wins from two as they continued a successful start to their title defence by beating newly-promoted Metz 3-0.

Despite being frustrated during a scoreless first half, goals from Lucas Moura and Layvin Kurzawa after the break ensured PSG kept up the pace with early front-runners Lyon and Nice at the top of Ligue 1.

A Jonathan Rivierez own goal in added time compounded Metz's misery as Phillipe Hinschberger's side came crashing back down to earth following an opening-day...

PSG defender Thiago Silva won't return from hip injury to face Metz

PSG manager Unai Emery says new signing Jese Rodriguez could play in their first match of the season against Bastia.
Thiago Silva is not in contention to return from injury to play this weekend.

Paris Saint-Germain will again be without captain Thiago Silva this weekend for the visit of FC Metz in Ligue 1.

The Brazilian defender injured his hip with a rash challenge on now teammate Jese Rodriguez when the French giants beat Real Madrid 3-1 last month in the International Champions Cup clash in Columbus, Ohio.

Since then, Silva has only been able to do light running exercises and he is yet to return to full squad training.

PSG coach Unai Emery revealed that the South American central defender...

Turkey international Erdinc levelled following a good team move 11 minutes into the second half but Lopes grabbed his second after a good ball from Eder to put Lille back in front 14 minutes later.

Georges Mandjeck commits to Metz with new extension

Cameroon international has extended his stay at Metz.

FC Metz midfielder Georges Mandjeck has signed a new two-year contract extension.

The Cameroon international, who joined the club from Turkish side Kayseri Erciyesspor last summer, helped Metz secure promotion from Ligue 2 following their relegation from Ligue 1 in 2015.

Mandjeck made 28 appearances for Philippe Hinschberger's side last season, and the former Auxerre and Rennes midfielder will now remain at the club until 2019.
