Defending premiers Melbourne Victory face possible sanctions as Football Federation Australia prepares to act over flares ignited and bottles thrown by fans at the Melbourne A-League derby clash.

Incredulous and angry, FFA CEO David Gallop appears likely to issue the Victory with a show-cause notice over the Saturday night incident at AAMI Park.

It follows last weekend's use of flares by Western Sydney Wanderers fans in their clash with Victory at Etihad Stadium, which led FFA to hit the Wanderers...

Guilherme Finkler scored a second-half equaliser to give Melbourne Victory a 2-2 draw with Melbourne City in their city derby on Saturday.

City's Bruno Fornaroli scored goals nine minutes apart in the first half, in between a strike by Fahid Ben Khalfallah. Finkler's leveler came just after the restart.

The Victory and City are level on 29 points, six behind league leaders Brisbane after 19 rounds, but City hold a five-goal edge on goal difference over their rivals from Victoria's state capital.

FFA considering sanctions after Western Sydney Wanderers clash

Brendon Santalab says he's delighted to re-sign with the Wanderers for a further two years.

Western Sydney Wanderers have issued strong requests for the Football Federation Australia (FFA) to withdraw any sanctions that they may place on the club due to misconduct in the crowds during their match against Melbourne Victory on Saturday.

Flares and detonators were ignited by the Wanderers fans in the away end of the stadium. This has led governing body FFA into taking action against the club who have had problems with their fanbase before.

Brisbane Roar ease to win as Western Sydney Wanderers leave it late

Brisbane Roar moved level on points with A-League leaders Western Sydney Wanderers after a 4-0 win over Central Coast Mariners.

Jade North opened the scoring for the Roar with a brave header before Jamie MacLaren doubled their lead before half-time.

Corona made it 3-0 on 59 minutes with a fine strike from outside the box and then Henrique completed the scoring from the penalty spot against Mariners, who had Harry Ascroft sent off.

A-League: Perth Glory win five-goal thriller; Maclaren boosts Brisbane

Diego Castro scored Perth's winner from the spot.

Perth Glory scored a late penalty as Melbourne Victory saw their five-game unbeaten run ended in a 3-2 thriller at nib Stadium.

Home side Perth were 2-0 up inside half an hour as Andy Keogh took advantage of a defensive error before Diego Castro tucked away a rebound.

Besart Berisha struck either side of the break to put the match back on even terms before Victory went down to 10 men when Fahid Ben Khalfallah was sent off for kicking out at Shane Lowry.

But Castro secured the points from the spot...
