United look to recreate German national team

Van Gaal wants German trio

Manchester United could kick off the new season with a distinctly German flavour if Louis van Gaal gets his way.

According to the Daily Mail, the Dutch supremo has given United executive chairman Ed Woodward the task of signing three Die Mannschaft stalwarts -- Mats Hummels, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Thomas Mueller -- before their World Cup duties are over.

Just how Jogi Loew would feel having his stars distracted by the Red Devils' advances, we can only speculate.

Redknapp's reunion plans in full swing

Remember when nostalgia was a big thing? Harry Redknapp does.

In a bid to recreate the West Ham side of the early 1800s, The Mirror claims that the Queens Park Rangers boss has not only approached free agents Rio Ferdinand and Frank Lampard to join his side but has also sounded out Toronto FC about the availability of one Jermain Defoe to join the Hoops on loan during the MLS offseason.

Knowing that Joe Cole is also available on a free, Transfer Talk reckons you could probably pen that one in as a done deal, too.

Who's next up on Harry's wanted list? We wonder if he's put in a call to Stan Lazaridis?

'Actually, I think I prefer Hull...'

Tom Ince's potential move to Italian giants Inter Milan sounds like it might have hit a snag, with the 22-year-old Blackpool winger seemingly had his head turned by the glamour that is Steve Bruce and his Hull City Tigers.

According to Metro, the reason that Inter will lose out to Hull -- in what surely must be the first time that has ever happened --  is that after his brief, unspectacular spell with Crystal Palace this year, Ince feels that he has unfinished business in the Premier League.

With Bruce and Ince's father, Paul, being close friends and former teammates, this yarn actually have some credibility to it. Watch this space. 

Rakitic deal paves Cesc's blue path

With Ivan Rakitic's move from Sevilla to Barcelona all but done and dusted, The Daily Star is claiming that one of the worst-kept secrets in football will finally be announced.

That's right, Mou has his man. Cesc Fabregas will pen an eye-watering eight million pound deal with Chelsea, which will surely send Arsenal fans into an all-too-familiar rage. 

Dribs and Drabs

The Daily Mail says that AC Milan are shopping Mario Balotelli around to an assortment of Premier League clubs and that Arsenal look most likely to bite. Arsene Wenger is also supposedly keen to get Loic Remy in to partner the young Italian starlet -- a strike force that would have most Gunners fans salivating.

• Loan specialists Everton are sniffing around Sunderland winger Adam Johnson, according to The Mirror. Roberto Martinez is supposedly keen to add some more width to the Toffees, and Johnson seems like the ideal fit.

• Liverpool target Alberto Moreno is playing down rumours of his impending shift to Merseyside. Metro have quoted the highly rated Sevilla left-back talking up his close ties to his current employer: "All I know is that I've been a Sevillista since I was a kid. My future? I do not know about that."
