Lyon coach Hubert Fournier dismisses talk of rift with Yoann Gourcuff

Following a 1-0 loss to Nice which saw Lyon fail to regain their two-point lead at the top of Ligue 1, their head coach Hubert Fournier believes that defeat could come back to haunt them at the end of the season.

Lyon coach Hubert Fournier has dismissed speculation of possible rifts within the club, amid reports of disagreements with his chairman Jean-Michel Aulas and playmaker Yoann Gourcuff.

It has been a turbulent few weeks at Les Gones, going back to late February when Aulas reportedly retweeted a supporter's social media post criticising the decision to bench Gourcuff during their 2-1 defeat to Lille.

Yoann Gourcuff still attracting interest despite injury troubles, agent says

Yoann Gourcruff's agent has said AC Milan and Manchester City had expressed an interest in the player after his Serie A exit.

Yoann Gourcuff's representative has told RMC that clubs in England and Italy have expressed an interest in the Lyon midfielder since he substituted himself during Saturday's 2-1 defeat to Nice.

Gourcuff, 28, arrived at Lyon for 22 million euros in 2010 with expectations he would build on the remarkable displays he had produced in helping former club Bordeaux to the Ligue 1 title in 2009.

Valentin Eysseric's first goal of the season dealt a severe blow to Lyon's title hopes as 10-man Nice snatched a late 2-1 win at Stade de Gerland.

Nice took a surprise 23rd-minute lead through Carlos Eduardo but when Lyon drew level in the 56th minute through a Maxime Gonalons penalty after Lloyd Palun was sent off, a fifth successive defeat looked on the cards for the visitors.
