Lyon maintained their unbeaten run through September but Jordan Veretout's 72nd-minute penalty helped Nantes claim a 1-1 draw at La Beaujoire-Louis Fonteneau.

The visitors had beaten Monaco and Lorient, in-between a draw with Paris St Germain, and appeared on course to collect three points on Sunday when Bakary Kone opened the scoring shortly after the interval.

But Kone went from hero to villain as his foul on Georges-Kevin N'Koudou in the area gave Nantes a way back into the match, with Veretout...

Nabil Fekir grabbed a brace as Lyon breezed past Lorient 4-0 at the Stade de Gerland.

Lyon came into the match unbeaten in three games including a draw at the Parc de Princes last time out, while Lorient have only found the net in one game so far in what has been a worrying start to the season.

That trend continued on Wednesday evening in a game which also saw Alexandre Lacazette and Clinton N'Jie find the target.

Lorient won at Lyon last season in what has been their only success to date at Stade Gerland...

Lyon chief calls for Ligue 1 to be reduced from 20 to 18 teams

ESPN FC's Gab Marcotti discusses PSG's poor start to the Ligue 1 season after most recently drawing with Lyon 1-1.

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has called for Ligue 1 to be reduced to an 18-team league in a bid to help French clubs' floundering European challenge.

Following a string of underwhelming displays, notably in the Europa League, from French clubs in European competition in recent seasons, France has slipped to seventh place in UEFA's coefficient rankings.

As a consequence, they risk seeing their Champions League allocation reduced from three places to two with only the league winners guaranteed...

Paris St Germain were made to pay for their profligacy as a late goal from Samuel Umtiti earned Lyon a 1-1 draw at the Parc des Princes on Sunday.

PSG had led through Edinson Cavani's 20th-minute header but, after wasting a whole host of chances to double their lead, Les Parisiens were stunned when Umtiti equalised in the 84th minute after a rare Lyon foray forward.

Boos echoed around the Parc des Princes at the final whistle as Laurent Blanc's side's indifferent start to the season continued.

Corentin Tolisso was Lyon's match-winner

Young midfielder Corentin Tolisso's winner saw Lyon inflict Monaco's third defeat of the fledgling Ligue 1 season.

Nabil Fekir's opener was quickly cancelled out by Lucas Ocampos and Monaco, led by Dimitar Berbatov, threatened repeatedly -- but Tolisso struck in the 74th minute to secure a 2-1 win, only the second in five games this season for Hubert Fournier's side.

Monaco were second in the table last season, their first following promotion back to the top flight, but having lost the likes of...
